Well, I threatened to do some work today...
After I'd beem out for breakfast at JJ's, then had a haircut I couldn't think of any other things to do, so I thought I'd better have a look in the shed.
It's a complete tip, so job one was to start tidying up.
I have a storage shed which is at the other side of the house.
That's a tip too, but nevertheless I needed to move stuff between the two.
The first hurdle was the flat tyre on my sack barrow, (don't want to do myself an injury carrying stuff).
When I was looking for the little compressor thing to blow it up, I found that I had one of those cheap Wing Wang bench mounted drill presses.
Actually, I knew I had it, it's just that it has been 'hidden' in the storage shed ever since I moved here, at the turn of the century.
Maybe it would be a good idea if I got that set up in the work shed...
So, I barrowed it over.
My bench isn't huge, so I didn't like it up on there.
What I need, I thought, is a stand so I can have it in the back corner...
So, to the bench...
I've been after a nice height adjustable stool to help my back out when I work at the bench, but have been unable to find anything suitable that didn't cost a fortune.
Mrs Tea has a height adjustable office chair in her study, or rather she did, because I've chopped it up and made this.
The top was made out of a toilet seat lid which I had saved for, well, I'd just saved it incase it came in handy.
I have actually got Mrs Tea a new office chair, by the way.
That isn't as extravagant as it sounds, they got some new ones in the office at work so I liberated one of the now surplus chairs for Mrs Tea.
So, I could now sit on my stool, in my shed, and listen to Planet Rock (I like that kind of thing though, I am assured, other stations are available) on the digital radio that my eldest daughter, Tasmin, has bought me specifically for my shed.
Sitting relatively comfortably with a cup of tea and some nice tunes, I had a think about that drill press which was now cluttering up my already cluttered shed.
Angle Iron, thats what I need...
A root through the other shed found me not only angle iron but also a cut off saw.
Great, I barrowed the saw over to the work shed, tried to plug it in but it wouldn't.
I noticed that one of the pins on the plug had gotten bent.
When I tugged it straight, it promptly fell off.
Marvellous!
I had to hunt high and low before I found a replacement plug, I mean, everything has them moulded on these days, who buys plugs?
I'm sure it will be a whild before Mrs Tea needs the food mixer anyway...
So, a reasonably simple stand for the drill out of a bit of angle,
I got this far with it...
...when my gas ran out for the MIG.
I have an off the grid BOC bottle on it, but the company who used to swap it for cash, no questions asked, have closed down.
Now I need to find an alternative source of MIG gas.
On a positive note, Tesco have easter eggs at half price.
So, I'm going to chomp through these whilst researching welding gas suppliers.
Be seeing you. X
