Hello all! new member here, and I would like to share my Camaro project with you all. All work done by me except build the transmission and roll cage. The history first...
Purchased in 2003, it barely ran but the car was pretty straight and the price was right. Did some body work, changed the wheels, hood, gauge panel, painted it red and drove it around for a few years.... In 2010 I was bored with it and decided to rebuild it again as a race/street car. I'm working on some new upgrades at the moment, but here are pic's of the beginning 2003 to current day...
The moment I bought it....
After a few weeks of body work, new hood, cage, taller rear spoiler, wheels I took it to work and painted it (I'm a painter)....
Red paint & stripes
My home made aluminum gauge panel & aftermarket seats...
358 C.I engine I built in my garage....040 10.5 to 1 compression, GMPP steel crank, Comp Cam & valve train, 750 DP Carb, Victor Jr. Intake, Edelbrock Aluminum heads...etc...
Ok, so after a few years of it like it was above, I really wanted to do something different, so it began.......
Started by stiffening up the chassis more by turning my 8 point cage into a 12 point Nascar style...
This was the hardest part, stripping, sanding, cleaning and filler work inside the car...
Lexan windshield test fit..
Freshly painted interior and test fit new gauge panel...
Painted gauge panel, new aluminum door panels, winshield supports..
New mesh grill, smaller hood....
New wheels, American racing Ansen Sprints..
Thats pretty much where I'm at now but
I'm in the process now of installing a Sunoco hood & custom made headers & exhaust pipes........
My goal is to make it look close to this...the IROC race Camaro
Shaving the door handles and mirrors, & repaint next, more pic's soon!....thanks for looking..........Frank
