UPDATE...mot pass 😁 Saturday will see me say goodbye to black beauty, it's only fair, owned for a few years and done 5 miles, a young man has bought her, she is an older woman to him. . Today sees me taking my little gem for her first with me MOT, she got fettled back to front over the weekend, everything works and seems about right. I did have to strip and sort all 3 calipers, just a bit 'sticky', could be that the previous owner used copaslip for the slides, cleaned everything, new pads and correct lube, we are good to go for 10am.

Clearing out some boxes, found a picture from around 1990, owned this from 1988, did a nut and bolt restoration on it, threw a 440cc kit in, when finished I stepped back to admire my work and tripped over the clutch...😔 Sold not long after.😥

On you utter bas***d...😥 Exhaust started to blow at the headers, needed new seals, I spent bloody ages cleaning up the nuts/threads, liberal sprays of WD and buckets of heat, still 2 snapped, luckily not flush. Welded nuts on, bought a Map blowtorch to heat the alloy..... Snapped again, luck still holding, still not flush. Think I'll give up on removal, try and weld onto them with the new studs. On a brighter note after removing the CAT, pipe I accidentally dropped it, honestly the insides just fell out...😇

Popped to the local bike shop for advice, it was readily given, I can push the bike over tomorrow morning and borrow their induction heater and stud extractors. Apparently they are rushed of their feet after a sudden staff leaver, I jokingly said it would be my dream job, he said it you get the studs out you can have a job, it was said in a 'not joking' manner. 🤔 They were working on a lovely old 400/4 cafe racer.

It lasted 2 laps on Mad Sunday before all the front seams split...😁

I love to check in on this thread from time to time and see the fabulous machines you are all working on. I keep looking for a project but prices have gone so far north I just can't see me ever having the funds for one, especially as my "thing" is 2 stroke motorcrossers If only I had just kept one of them... As it is, now I have to live vicariously through you lot

Love the Frankenstein rear guard. Back in the 70's I had my dt125 twinshock, a mate had a ts250, it felt like the fastest thing on earth when he let me ride it.
