Not sure on what engine it was.... I'm assuming still a lil A series as it was my dads everyday car for quite a while... He still had it when i was born but it had been off the road for a while at that point. Theres a couple of pics of it down the side of this house. After he cut the front hedge down just to get it in haha... Last he heard it was in a scrapyard.... But if thats where the story ended I'm not sure..He sold it to someone who was supposedly doing it up

hi guys, finally back home and online, spoke to kev and we came up with some great idea's, what I'm planning on doing is go with fitting steel's on thr front maybe with cross plys, slots on rear, external visor, maybe a engine dress up kit if can find one, sheet metal the side's of the pickup bed and go with the willy's style bed and thats going to be it for now, going to have to do this to a kev budget of nothing because at 17 I'm finding hard to find a part time job, a few specs that i know if is thats its a got a 1.4 datsun lump (A14 engine and the B310 spec i belive) got the datsun trans, i think its been lowered but not sure how much and thats it really, now here come's the hard bit, will i be able to upload pics for the first time, wish me luck

Can I firstly say, what a cracking little pick up, and an excellent choice of engine.
That blue Austin pick up, the last in a line posted by Kev isn't that high at the front, unlike a lot of gassers, so could definately be a possibility. It would look great with either the stock or a Willys front end. Fit a moon tank and it would set it off a treat. I have seen similar tanks made out of 2 welded together saucepans and camping Gaz bottles. If they are just for show and painted then something could be cobbled together. A good friend of mine owned Julians Moggy pick up for a few years and drove the ass off it, it really was a brilliant pick up. The bed sides were very basic, but looked excellent. They were just sheet steel with rolled over tops. I used to own a chopped and couped Moggy, Fiat twin cam and a Willys flip front. Always wanted to make a gasser out of it. I'll keep watching this thread :-)

Use Kev to your advantage, the man speaks words of pure wisdom and will be an endless source of help. Can't wait to see how this one ends up.

Morris Minors have to be one of the best starts to an "old car lifestyle". Good choice by your mate Kev. This is my old man back in the late 70s/early 80s with the first car he got on the road. He's probably still got those trousers although they wont fit now.

I had an old Moggy van early in my driving career: Three splines on the front, a bit of yellow paint and I was feeling good. It was an absolute pile, but what fun!

cheers for the thread additions guys!
craig - I didn't have anything to do with james' choice of purchase - I was actually thinking of a 107e instead!! - but I think he's hit a good first motor, old but with good panel availability, and most of the oily bits are datsun, so no worries there!!

So Andy House is your old man? I remember that pickup and the coupe that it became. Yep, the coupe is still about or it was a few years back anyway. Wasn't looking very fresh though. I was too young to remember the coupe but have fond memories of everything from the model Y up.

hi guys, was thinking about it today, since i last saw kev he was saying about turning my moggie into a gasser, what i am going to do is steel's on front maybe cross ply's but not sure yet, slots on the rear, external front visor, engine dress up (air cleaner and new cam cover) and maybe sheet metal the side's of the pickup bed and add some rear arch's to it. what i was thinking about is if i lower the rear end by 2-3 inch's (remeber it has torsion bar springs) and if i then leave the front end as it is or maybe higher it by a inch or so.
just wanting to see what people would think it would work out and how long it would take for the suspension jobs.
thanks for now
