Cool car!! I knew the saloon existed but never a wagon. I love the faded patina to the paint, Twin cam engine is a good idea too. I don't like the FWD Alfa wheels though, too flat,I'm sure you'll find something better.

Makes me shudder too! Please put the guard back on.
Excellent progress otherwise, I'm enjoying seeing this car come back to life.

I didn't realise the Escort was in the Lidl mix, someone had got them before me. I did get the Volvo 850 estate though.

I do like that,
I think the rear side glass could be from a Skoda Felica estate?

Cool car, I'd dearly love to own one of these gorgeous beasts, but sadly it'll never happen. Enjoying this thread very much.
Any idea of the final colour? Original blue perhaps?

Thanks for the info on spot welding, I've had a go on some scrap sheet and it seems to work well, but I need shorter arms as mine are 500mm, so not a lot of use for car body work.
Mine is also quite weighty.
Excellent work.

Nice work, welding is my least favorite activity on a car.
I got some Klokkerholm sills recently to fit to my Golf,so this is giving me some inspiration to get out there and get it done, although the ones I got look to be galvanised as they are not in black paint like the one you are fitting.
Could you maybe show us your spot welder, and what process you do to use it?
I've recently bought a used SIP spotmatic (with timer), so a few tips from a pro would be helpful.
Thanks.

Just a quick question to satisfy my curiosity?
why don't you use an etch/wash primer first?

I have that '77 dodge van too, Drilled it out and swapped the base and wheels into the "Mooneyes" version, turned the tyres around to hide the green trim. Turned out really good.
Put the plastic base back into the white "Hulk" van and gave it to my nephew!
