I went on a bus the other day, it had members of the public on it, actual people I didn't know. The highlight was watching a woman - at least I think it was - drinking a can of Stella and sharing it with her 11-13 year old daughter The only other time I can remember a bus journey is stopping to help the driver eject 3 males with there cocks out If it was me, it would be a no, but hey, I dislike people so take it as you will

Headliner replacement is still a work in progress, its dark by the time I get home from work, so i'm struggling. Its been a nightmare as I had no pattern, but I think I've about got it right now.
I'll prob take some measurements and shove em up on the joy that is the Standard Car Forum

J, that was just the first filter i bought to get me going, its the same as the daily civic, so unjust ordered the same when i serviced that, it is very long.
Since then I've spent time in Halfords and found that a Clio filter is half the depth and a lot fatter, will move it up behind the bumper, so unless there's a brick i should be fine; hopefully
No way i can afford a dry sump, to be honest i added a fair bit of depth when i made this sump (seemed a good idea till i lowered her) so i can lose that and add some wings as well

The speedo works by magic and voodoo
But no, really it takes its input (coil or ECU) into an IC (chip) that converts the frequency pulses into a voltage, this voltage is then passed into an IC which simply turns LEDs on as the voltage increases.
There's a voltage regulator in there as well as cars don't really put out a stable voltage and it just stops it fluctuating which would clearly be bad for an accurate display
I've decided to make my own coolant and fuel gauges as I can't get what i'm after. These will be in a square bezel from a Ford Corsair (I think) and will be behind dark smoked plastic so when they are turned off will 'disappear' into the dash

This is awesome! Just read the whole thread start to finish - love the D.I.Y approach. Any updates? Why thank you, I do love glancing at her every time I go outside Updates? Very little at the minute, its winter and I'm mostly enjoying being a Dad to my 12 week old daughter. Saying that, I am getting little bits done in drips and drabs. The speedo is all together and working, I have some resistor values to change to get it accurate, but I'm waiting on a hall effect (magnet glued to crank pully and a pickup, very accurate) tacho from eBay China before I can do that. It has a digital readout which is very fancy, but very modern looking hence It only being used for calibration I've started on the carpet, its amazing the difference it makes, transforms the whole, err, sitting at in there experience. I bought this heat moldable stuff from a show for £15 and got 1.8x5m of the stuff so was expecting very little of it, but it actually works, heat the rear with a heat gun, bend into shape, let cool and it stay s there! Soured on by the fact its cold out and the carpet looks good I spent a few hours with the sewing machine making the head lining. I tried my hardest to get the original material as I don't want to upset the purists, I think I've nailed it, though the fleck might be slightly off ;p Finally I mostly have this to deal with, now she's lowered 5 odd inches there appears to be around 1.5inches between the sump and the floor. Going back up is never going the happen so I have to pull the engine out again and remake the sump. I'm going to get some plates laser cut and use that, might make it about 5mm thick so it can take a knock

I'd love it be at donington, just round the corner; no really, so when my turbo blows a few days before the gathering after struggling for months to prep the car, I can just push it there ;p

Yaris t-sport had a 1500cc engine, 105bhp, silly variable timing lark etc
Went well enough when you found the sweet spot, something of a struggle with the curse word gearbox they fitted, but you wouldn't be using that anyway...

I recon an 8x8 workshop could be built for around £4-500, bearing in mind it would be a million times better, stronger, durable than anything you could buy. Hell, even if it was £6-700 it would still be £500 cheaper and so so much better...
Do remember a timber yard will be a third of the price of places like b&q and be better quality

You could of course build your own, framework from 2x3 and t&g cladded would cost pence and be so so so much better than anything you could buy

I bought a 2006 onwards civic when we had a little person, fits everything in just fine and the rear seats do amazing things.
Its like a spaceship inside which makes the fact it doesn't rattle and can go over speed bumps tolerable
The 1.8 engine is pathetic but does over 40mpg on a run if boring figures are your thing
That said, we had a yaris before and if we hadn't listened to the scare mongering would of been fine bar the 3 door thing

Kind of a how long is a peice of string question but my insurance company wants me to value my car She's a 1955 Standard 8, this is the early small window and sliding door glass model, body is good, a few patches etc, paint is shabby but in a nice way. If it was standard I'd put it around the £1500 mark, but; she's fitted with a Suzuki cappuccino twincam 3 cyl turbo engine, 5 speedbox, custom interior, disc brakes, dropped 4 inches onto appliance wiremags, so I have no idea what to say Parts alone are touching a grand, let alone the time taken Any ideas?

I've got my fingers crossed for more of a track than a hillclimb, not that I dislike driving up hills, but hooning round a track appeals to me more...

God, god no...
When we first starting courting ;p she refused point blank to go in my Mazda 1300 which was the best car i've ever owned so as I quite liked her I sold it, never again will I listen to her.
Now i'm only 'allowed' little time to work on my current car, she still refuses to get in, but hey, thats suits me fine, she can drive the dull daily for me

String - long
Keep the celica, you appear to just nip to shops and as such 30mpg seems just dandy to me over running a wanky diesel just for tax
