Gave her a clean up and went to work.......... No one had an idea what it was at work. But everyone comment how clean it was and great it sounded. On the way home a loud graunching noise started on gradual braking from front , I'm guessing will be something to do wit front pads or discs. My god does she pick up from 50 -70!! Felt like she would pull 3 figures easy! Tons of torque too.

Recently paint some areas of my Alfa.
They looked fine after painting, I zinc primed, filler primed, rubbed down, normal primed, rubber down and then color coated. Coming back to the car today (after it sitting for about 3 or 4 months and there are a load of cracks in the paint.
Other areas I did are fine.
Did I let it dry to quick , too slow? Do you think I laid coats on too thick? It was painted outside by the way on warmish days.
I also have another Alfa with flaking lacquer and pink paint (rather than the red it should be), I'm going to sand of the lacquer but do I need to prime a keyed colour or can I spray new colour straight on top?
All help appreciated!

Well been fannying around leaving some little jobs to do. Cracked on last weekend and got them done but for some reason I had it in my head if I put it in for an MOT I'd have to spend out as they would want to redo my work etc.
Only went and bloody passed!!! Needed a new switch for a light and that was it!!
Well chuffed! I'm going to tax her on the 1st and get out there enjoying her!!
On another note I seem to have bought a pink and laquer flaky 164 Cloverleaf.............

Been a bit quite but finished tidying the MX5 with rear arch repairs and wheel refurd, going to put it up for sale now as have massive hankering for a CX25 GTi! The Alfa still needs an MOT, spent today tracking down a corroded spade connector that was causing the indicators to be weak. I need to get under and do 1 more bit of welding before taking it to the station. With the weather better I am on it!

Your problem the fact your using aerosols as thick stuff will not spray from an aerosol. Go to a proppa motor factors and get a tin of brush on seem sealer warm it up in a pan of water and bosh it on with a brush then spread it out with a small roller. Good call!! I have seam sealer in the garage!!

Hi , repairing the sills and arches on my MX5.
Where I have used a flap wheel to prep the metal for welding, I removed the factory stone chip/underseal stuff.
Not the repair is done I need to level the surface with some stonechip/underseal stuff.
I got some Hammerite white stuff from Halfords, but even after 5 thick coats its still no where near thick enough to bring it level with the factory stuff.
Can someone recommend a super thick stone chip that comes in a aerosol can and will give that original stippled finish?
Cheers!

Been a bit quiet as busy with work but have been creeping along to being finished and ready for MOT. I have refitted the bodykit and bumpers after getting some rubber arch trim to sit between the arch bodykit. I did not paint it, previously someone did a respray on the car and painted this bit and it just flaked. And I quite like the look as is. I have used screws not rivets to put the kit on so I can access the arches easily and re waxoyl regularly. And today I finished going round painting the black trim. I had gone a milky grey over time and now the rest of the paint is in good nick looked terrible. I wanted to make sure it did not flake again, so I used white spirits to clean, then Halfords bumper prep spray then bumper black paint. This was used as a key for another coat of Satin Black. I did not like the finish of the halfords bumper black hence the satin. And I did not want to use gloss black as I though it was to shiny versus the original look. I did the door handles and the wing mirrors too as they where also tatty. All took allot of time consuming fiddly masking! I am going to do the window frame surrounds next as they are tatty. Then give here a clean, blEed the brakes again and stick her in for an MOT!
