I am now the new owner ;D
A very nice chevette indeed, and a genuine and helpful seller.
I'll enjoy tinkering to getting it running properly and back on the road...

Really like that. Ive just done the house buying thing a couple of weeks ago so i feel your pain. You cant be far from me if you are north essex....I'm near Colchester.
As someone said above, hope it goes quick so i don't get tempted to come and have a look!

I notice you mentioned in your other thread about these that you have some course cutters suitable for aluminium. Do you have any of that type in the 3mm shank?
I prefer porting with a dremel type tool and light flexi drive, much easier to use but i havent found any proper aluminium cutters with a 3mm shank.
Flame/ball/tree type shapes would all be useful!

I'm after the rear half of a prop to suit an ae86 axle....i think i am right in saying there were two common bolt patterns for the face that bolts to the diff? Is this the smaller one (starlet type?) or the larger pattern?
Probably irrelevant anyway as I'm miles from you and would need to book a courier to collect. More than happy to send some money over for your time though if its the right bit.

An interesting read! I have a 4 door chevette but i'll be using the usual manta axle as i don't intend huge amounts of power. However, i also have a toyota kp30 which i'll be fitting a different axle to, and had looked down the same routes mentioned above but i really don't want to cut the floor about. I then discovered the Asymmetric 3 link setup. As far as i can see it has major benefits in being able to fit the links to a normal road car, plus the geometry itself if set up correctly can cancel out all driveline torque. It requires very careful planning by the looks of things, and the single top link is subject to high loadings so the mounting point on the floor must be very rigid. A brief read here: home.earthlink.net/~whshope/id16.htmlI did find some more info a few months back when i looked into it but cant remember where now. I'm hoping to test the theory on the toyota when i eventually get around to it! Andy

Put a handful of sand in them and a tiny bit of water/cleaner, shake like mad and wash it out very thoroughly of course! Works like an abrasive scrub then. Will get rid of the muck inside but i think the orange is the plastic itself discoloured, nothing will help that

Good stuff going on here, you must be putting in the hours!
If you need any info/pics from mine (its all still together at the mo) then just shout.
You are welcome to have a look over it if you want, or i could roll it down to you at some point....I'm in Essex as well near Colchester so presumably not too far from you.

Wonder if anyone can help?
Ive bought a pair of allycat wheels, 13x8j, for the back of my chevette, i now need to source a pair of fronts to go with them in 4x100 stud pattern. Any widths considered but i think around a 7j would be ideal.
Only a pair needed obviously, but i would consider a set if they are cheap enough, I'm willing to put some effort into refurbing so condition isnt too important.
If anyone has any kicking around unloved in the back of the garage, please let me know!

Where abouts are you?
My sister has a black mk3 that has sat for a long time doing nothing. She got herself another car and has just left the swift, its in a bit of a sorry state now and although she had intentions of doing it up at the time, i think she would probably sell it now.
Its near Colchester in Essex, give me a shout if you would like any more info.

You can see in the photos all the swirls from me spending about 2 mins with a machine polisher on it. It needs a proper machine polish/tcut and it would look a lot better, although it wont help the poor lacquer. There a few shades of red over the car, some is lacquered and some isnt
