Thanks for clarifying, guys. I also didn't realise it was next weekend until a couple of days ago... argh! I know that dogs aren't allowed at Prescott Shelsley hillclimb, but what about on the campsite? I tried looking for the campsite rules but can't find them. Thanks Pity they are not allowed, would have been nice to have a cuddle.......I'll just settle for one off you Dean :-p Two years without an RRG cuddle! Might have to be a shirts-off job to make up for it.

The terms have become interchangeable I've found. Most of what is called vinyl is actually PU (polyurethane). PVC is also used, which as you point out in your post, is actually "vinyl" hence the V in PVC!

It felt so, so good to be back at a car show... and what a fantastic show it was. Catching up with friends, making new ones and seeing some incredible cars. I came back feeling really inspired and fired up to crack on with my own builds.
Thank you to everyone who made this show possible, I know you worked your backsides off!

This probably isn't going to be of much help, but I've rarely got time to read the emails even though I'm genuinely interested in the content. It's happened with a few newsletters that I've subscribed to - I really would like to read them, but often don't get the chance. There's slightly less compulsion to read the RR Roundup ones because I check in to the forum regularly so feel that I at least have a chance of catching the good content, even though the newsletters pick up on stuff I may have missed.

Last RRW I read that dogs were allowed at the campsite and at Goodwood. Is that still the case this year? I might have one of mine with me this time around if so...

I have a classic Mini shell with no ID or V5. No idea what year... possibly 1980s? It was abandoned in an industrial unit I have taken on and the shell now belongs to the landlord. They have offered to have it removed for me (and scrapped) but I thought I'd offer it to you guys first. It's a bit rough. Rot in all the usual places, and someone who was restoring it has tacked on some panels which I personally would want to cut out and do again. It comes on a spit which has broken at the welds... which belies the quality of the work as a whole if I'm honest!
Come and take it. Use it for parts. Turn it into a barbecue / trailer / chicken coop. Restore it and drive it (legally somehow). It must be gone by next weekend (1st May) otherwise, the scrap man cometh...
You will need a trailer and a few burly mates to lift it on.
Drop me a PM

That's an incredibly detailed investigation, strongcomputer! Hats off to you for having such dedication! I guess the mystery is 90% solved now then. All we need now is some kind of discovery about how the car came to be or who built it, and it'd be case closed!

There are a fair few places doing cheap recon units now. I really like the R50 Mini, they're a real hoot to drive. Total pain to work on as there's no space under the bonnet. I sort of wish they'd gone with the K Series that was originally planned, but then I guess we'd have tonnes of Minis in the scrappy with popped head gaskets aswell as busted transmissions...

Still for sale. I've got my new van now so this one is no longer being dailied. Will listen to reasonable offers if it means not having to deal with Facebook marketplace thickos!

Exactly what I'm looking for, got anything that needs Rustproofing to trade with 🤔 Sorry not at the moment. There can be some movement on the price to an RR member, for a quick easy sale

I just re-discovered this car having last watched your project thread waaaaay back in 2008! Amazed to see it's still going - so cool to see. I just found myself back on this forum for the first time since then (I moved to Canada for a year and never came back!) and have had a couple of W115s of my own in the mean time. Anyway, keep up the good work - looking forward to seeing this old gal be reborn! Welcome back to RR! Hope it felt like coming home, this forum always does to me. Thanks for the positive words, it's a bit of a slow burner this project! Recently I've been thinking about what to do with it, whether I have the time to do such a massive project, and various difficult realities. My reaction has been to put it in a corner and think about it when I've finished the Patrol project. A nice /8 will get comments like, "Ah good old solid Mercedes they were made to last". The reality though, unless the car was kept submerged in a vat of oil, is that someone has spent years playing 'find yet another hidden rust trap', cutting out metal and welding in new to get/keep it on the road. Oh yes, they may have built old Mercedes out of nice thick steel but it still loves to rot like any other car! Brilliant to see progress on your project, Really enjoy "metalwork" on any thread, the levels of skill on this forum can be fantastic, Looking forward to seeing future updates again now, Nigel Cheers! I'm enjoying learning new skills. I can't promise an update any time soon as all my free time is taken by my Patrol OM606 conversion, but I'm looking forward to being able to focus on it next.

SOLD! 1998 Honda CR-V 2.0 Mk1 131,000 miles MOT January 2022 Manual gearbox Cambelt was done soon after I bought it in Sept 2019, at 108,000 miles. It's had 4 recent Toyo tyres, until one got a screw in the side and the tyre shop only had a Rapid in my size so it's got that on the back. Oil and filter changed every 6000 miles. Recent front wheel bearing, lower and upper front arm. Recent (2020) new exhaust. Comes with Thule roof bars, and a Honda picnic table under the boot floor! This car was owned and cared for by another RR member before me, when it had the rear diff oil changed. It needs a few bits doing. The OSF CV boot has a split in it, I have a replacement boot which will come with the car. There is a slight oil leak, I'm not sure where from (suspect cam cover gasket) but the oil needs a top-up every couple of weeks. There are a couple of rust bubbles appearing on the rear arches, these will want nipping in the bud before they become more than cosmetic. Occasionally there's a slight rubbing noise under braking , not investigated but thinking a brake backplate. The front anti-roll bar droplink needs replacing. I replaced one side when I did the arms and now it seems the other side has failed. New one included in the sale if I find it. This car has been a reliable daily for me, and has doubled as a van going up and down the country transporting stock for my other half's business. It's nice and sure footed on wet / wintery / pot-holed roads, plenty of ground clearance. I'd get in this car and drive it any distance. It's got a few scuffs and marks as you'd expect with a 23 year old car, but it's generally tidy and straight. I'm still dailying it until the end of the week. Pics are from when I got it but it's not changed much since then apart from the spare being returned to the back.
