I don't know if it would give you the clearance but have you investigated the MGC hood? You should be able to get a fibreglass one for less than a rare original. If they are like the wings I had from a certain dual name based place, the fit of them is terrible. Stevie Wonder could make a straighter edge without trying. There are enough folks happy with them, but IMHO, if someone is after a factory quality part, they don't come close. The shut lines on my Sebring wings for example were wavy! Tight in some areas, loose in others on the same run of the shut line. But folks will buy them for -The 10 feet look, where they are passable -Cost -Rust removal issues. Got fibreglass sebring kit. Will need a lot of work to get the shuts acceptable

Putting a Saab b234 in an MGB. It's a tall engine so thinking of dry sumping it to reduce the height. There are sumps on ebay so I would just need the rest. I can find much about building your own system. Am I right in thinking I would just need a scavenger pump, a tank, pressure regulator and a way of getting the oil back in the engine?
How do I know what size pump I need?
Anyone done it DIY before?

Getting to the front suspension on my MGB project and hoping to use RX8 uprights as I have fitted RX8 rear subframe so the PCD will match and I have a pair already. Plan is to make some custom wishbones in a similar vein to these: Hoping to avoid having to just buying the ball joints to see if they fit. Does anyone know of any resources that show the tapers and dimensions of the ball joints? I assume as long as the ball joints are bigger than the hole in the uprights I can get them recut to fit? Any idea where can do this? Any other source of ball joints that might fit the Mazda uprights and able to use in a custom wishbone? the RX8 ones are all integral to the wish bones and they aren't suitable for what I have planned thanks Adam

If you part it out let me know, currently putting one in an MGB and the manifold at least would be good

I think they are 150bhp standard, so I would have guessed circa 180bhp+ with the re-map? I have a dyno print out showing about 180 and has written on it "206bhp - losses due to haldex disconnected". The guy I bought it from said they had a 2wd dyno and disconnected the haldex and that caused the reading to be lower. Make of that what you will. Feels quick to me

Looked through the paperwork and there is a service stamp 31/3/11 86,501 miles saying the Toothed belt replaced which I assume is the timing belt. Has water pump and thermostat written on it as well so that would make sense to do them all at the same time.
Last stamped service was done 20/12/12 103680 miles. I did all the servicing myself since I have owned it from 28/01/13

I've got the narrowed RX8 rear suspension fitted to an MGB and next job is sorting some spring and dampers. Rather inconveniently there is a chassis in the way of running some coil overs in the stock place but I could fit a bit of tube through so I'm thinking push rods to inboard coil overs.
If I build it so the movement is as straight as possible on the coil overs is there much else to consider in alignment? I've kept the standard RX8 geometry/arms/hubs, does the angle of push rods, rockers and coilovers have much effect?
Thanks!

I need 4 wheels to get my project rolling and to set up the suspension heights. Any old curse word will do, preferably with tyres, size not important. They must be 5x114.3 or 5x4.5" in old money and 16" diameter.
Really don't care what they are or what condition they are in. Close to Sandhurst, Berks or Watford would be good
Thanks Adam

the RX8 beat the Miata or MX5 due to the factory LSD and the complete unit that we found for sale on eBay for £100 one night in the pub. We bought it with no planning whatsoever and it didn't seem to hard to make fit so we did. There is a certain amount of flying by the seat of our pants with this project. EG we don't currently know what we're doing for front suspension as there is quite a lot of engine where the MGB cross member goes. Current plan is to get an RX8 front suspension and see what we can do. Probably be a custom cross member with all other bits RX8 copying RX8 geometry

I went with the undo bolts till it comes off option. Seemed to go OK. £180 for the machine work not so much... I'm fitting a Saab B234 2.3 turbo engine and RX8 6 speed box to an MGB. I've narrowed an RX8 rear end to fit with the LSD diff and am currently pondering the front suspension. There is quite a lot of engine in the way of the MGB front suspension so it looks like it'll be custom based on RX8 front end OK, I can see where there is some appeal to putting this under the MGB body shell. I would be quite interested in hearing more about what you did to shorten the track width? The RX8 track is a full 10" wider than the MGB track. Would love to see some pics of the installed rear suspension. Its not installed yet. To narrow it we cut it in half and cut 160mm out and welded the 2 halfs back together. We've thrown the bit ali mount away and will make a new one, we'll have to get the driveshafts shortened as well. We're fitting sebring arches and much bigger offset wheels which gets us a bit more width in the back as well

I need to remove the bell housing from the RX8 gearbox I'm fitting to an MGB to have 14mm milled off to allow the input shaft to properly engage. I've never dismantled a gearbox before so does anyone have a link to a guide or any pointers before I go for the bolt stuff until it comes off approach?
Thanks Adam
