For sale is my original W111 restoration project. It’s a 1965 saloon, and has carbs not fuel injection. It needs plenty of work but is a great candidate for restoration. I’m only selling as I had the opportunity to buy another car needing less work (but for a more money!!). Body The front of the car is pretty good - the cross member is good, the bonnet is rot free (not the one in the photo) and I have a pair of good used wings - one beige one in the photos and another used wing to replace the passenger side as the original is shot. The rear of the car is in very good condition. Boot lid and rear arches etc are good - minor repairs and you’d be ready for paint prep. The bit in the middle, as always, needs the most work. I’d bank on sills and floor repairs at least, and all four door bottoms are rotten. However, I do have a full set of aftermarket (and extremely well made) inner and outer sills, and also a set of really excellent repair sections for all of the doors, both for the inner frame and the outer skin. So bsically an unfitted solution for most of the rot on the car Interior The car has white/cream leather, but really the interior wants a complete overhaul. The timber trims from around the side windows are missing, but it seems otherwise fairly complete. It has a white steering wheel - some people prefer these. Brightwork All there, mainly poor. I have a decent grille and usable head and tail lamps, but the aluminium window trims will all need refinished. The sill trims and fin trims are missing. The bumpers are grim - I had intended to fit a set of stainless ones, having had good experiences with a set on my Amazon. Mechanical Seems complete, it turns over freely. I haven’t investigated any further but assume a complete rebuild. Mileage may be around 60000, but I have no proof to back this up. Including the repair panels, I’m looking for £3500 or near offer. The car is in Dumfries, south west Scotland just 30 miles from Carlisle. I would expect serious buyers to want to view - please call me on 07717163232 to arrange a viewing or with any questions.

Static cars parked in straight lines kill it for me. Cars have so much more than just a front end to look at, but at the vast majority of shows, especially straight classic shows, it's just row after row of front ends. If a show must be static, then at least get creative - park a few side-on, or facing the other way, or on a banking or whatever. I run a small show locally and it is my only rule - bring whatever you like, but don't park up the same way as the car next to you. This is where events like the revival win for me. Fantastic (or commonplace) cars just strewn all over the place, under trees, side of the road, haphazard on the grass - fantastic. Seeing a familiar car from an unfamiliar angle, and appreciating a new way for the light to sit on the surfaces or the chrome to accentuate a curve that you hadn't noticed before just makes my day.

560 Cars and counting, and like VitesseTony I know I have a problem. If someone actually studied it I'm sure it would be a diagnosable compulsion/addiction, it's such a hard cycle to break. An understanding wife is essential, but I don't know that I understand myself at times. Like many on here I've been into 'projects' as long as I can remember, but I am getting really jaded now. I've long accepted that I'm not a single car kinda guy. I've had my Oxford since I was 16 and will never leave me, so that's fixed in the fleet but needs lots of work before it hits the road again. I've always wanted a Fintail Mercedes, so bought a project to go with my W123 estate project. Not a bad fleet if they were all finished. But there's also my W124 - a car I don't need, but I know I will pine for it if it sold. It was great when on the road, but a snowballing arch tidy means it is off the road, and now a project. A Maestro van seemed a sensible parts chaser until I find an A60 van, so I bought a nice project. I have a spares car for most of the above, so whilst I am lucky to have a very large workshop, it's clogged with an overwhelming amount of festering, unfinished projects - my empire of rust. And I can justify every one of them to myself... I found myself in hospital late last year with a sudden illness which was a bit touch and go for a bit. A short, sharp shock with months of recuperating, and I made a whole lot of decisions about where life was going and what matters most (it isn't cars). So I began reducing my fleet and sold off half a dozen projects - the list above is what I am left with. Even after staring into the abyss and trying to change for the better, I recently went and bought an Audi 80 cabriolet - primarily because it was in the right shade of blue, but also because it was mint and on the road. I regret it already. I have vowed that by the end of this year I will have got this situation sorted, but I seriously doubt I will - I can see it plaguing me to the bitter end. I have considered selling the lot (except the Oxford, 'natch), and just not being a car guy anymore. But my biggest worry is if I'm not the car guy I think I've always been, then exactly who am I? Deep and dark thinking required on that one. Reading this back I'm not actually sure if any of this adds to the discussion, but have a black 6/110 Wolseley to make up for reading this nonsense. I regret buying the Fintail and not one of these...

I am breaking a pair of extremely rotten W114 coupes, both series one cars. they have lain for a very long time in a damp shed, so a lot has suffered. However, I do have: A good navy MB Tex interior with door cards A pair of good door pockets A pair of usable, though not mint, front wings - will need slight repair and paint Bonnet and bootlid, will need paint Windscreen - slight delamination, collect only All other glass A good pair of headlights An extremely good dashboard A good set of instruments Various other small trim parts A usable euro front bumper - not mint, but straight and shiny (no rears) Most mechanical parts, but all will need rebuild PAS pumps Alternators Starters You get the idea! No silly prices, I would rather see the parts used than scrapped. I’m in Dumfries, Scotland, but am willing to post, or I’m happy for you to come and strip whatever you want. Please call or text me on 07717163232

It is, and sadly sold since this photo was taken. Probably shouldn't have sold it in hindsight but the fleet was (and still is) in double figures and a little pruning was required. Not one inch of welding required, and I had new old stock doors and wings for it. The more I think about it the more I am going to have to go and kick myself. Again.

This is still here, and has just been moved into the 'Shed of broken dreams' where I keep all the things I don't want to keep. It desperately needs a new home - are you sure that isn't you? Call or message me, my willingness to do a deal has rarely been this strong.

After a recent bit of soul-searching, I have decided that my trio of Fiat 127s will not see the road again with me - partly because I'm a 'robust' 6'5" and I can't actually get in them. I have been stockpiling the cars, panels and parts for a few years with the intention of building two good cars from the three, but various other projects have me more fired up than these. Along with other commitments, I won't have much free time over the next couple of years so these need to go. There are three cars, though I only have photos of the first one as the others are at the back of the back shed (I'll post pics of them tomorrow): 1. An S reg 127 saloon (ie bootlid and fixed screen, not a hatch) with a 903 engine. This car has been carefully stripped to a bare rolling shell and sandblasted - I was feeling brave! It will need front wings, sills, rear arches, rear panel, doors and a repair to the front panel and screen surround. The floors etc are surprisingly fine. Sound like a lot but I have panels - see below. 2. Another 903 saloon - this is toast, but has plenty of good parts and is complete and rolling. 3. An X reg 1050 hatch. This car is complete bar bumpers, and I have given it a fair going over looking for rot. It definitely needs sills, a bonnet, and doors with sundry smaller repairs elsewhere. I have not had any of these cars running, but the 1050 and one of the 903's are turning ok, and the 1050 would run with an hours work. I would recommend strongly coming to view these in person if you are interested as your opinion and mine of a restorable car will differ. Plenty of work required, but rare as hen's teeth and cooler than a penguin's whatnot - but if you have read this far you know that already! I have a four post ramp so you can come and poke at their nether bits as you wish. I've put a price up of £1000 for all three, but I will do deals for one, two or three of these depending on what you want. I am aware that three cars equals three trailers, and that this level of Italian flair, style and panache is never just round the corner from your house so travel could well be involved. HOWEVERBy separate negotiation, and initially only available to the buyers of the cars, I have a pile of parts including (but not limited to) the following: Two pairs of new wings Two new bonnets One new door, two used doors one new front panel (inner and outer) One new rear panel Two sets of rear arches Four new sills A large pile of new mechanical parts including brakes, service parts, suspension etc - enough for one car and a good start on a second. There are two sets of alloy wheels - one set of Palio/Sport alloys and one set of Campagnolas. Both need refurbished. I'm more than willing to deal on all the cars and all the parts together - it would make sense to me, but I'm the kind of character who buys cars he doesn't fit.... Basically a whole pile of Italian goodness just waiting for someone with more passion than me to put it together. Message me or call me on 07717163232 to arrange a visit to view them in Dumfries, SW Scotland (30 miles from Carlisle). I am open to part exchanges with cash my way, but prefer pre '85 and with chrome - try me.

So this is still festering in the workshop taking up space. It needs to go, sensible offers invited. Cash and a part/ex project might tempt me, but it needs to be eighties or older to tickle my pickle. If you are stockpiling Volvo Amazon, Maestro van, Fiat 127, Merc W123 or BMC Farina parts I'd be interested in a deal as well. In fact, it's fairly difficult to hold a conversation with me without some kind of deal being mentioned so give me a try! 07717163232

I'm surprised too FOAD. I don't think I'm asking a lot for it bearing in mind it has fresh paint, low miles and no rot. I know they don't have a huge following, but they are a nice old barge as you know! I just haven't 'clicked' with it, and I have no idea why - if it had been on the road things might have been different. It's at the stage where it just needs everything screwed back together and a mechanical going-over, and though I have too many projects already I have even offered to take a part-ex, but still no joy. Are you sure you don't need a pair?

Sunday bump.
The only contact I have had for this has been a local banger racer who heard it was for sale. He's a decent bloke, so I'm not worried about it disappearing in the night or anything, but I don't really want to see it go for racing.
Somebody must want this. I might even take a part-ex, but it would need to be OLD (mid-eighties at the newest) and with cash my way.
Go on, tempt me....
