Weekend in pics: Finished these at last, car on the floor again! And picked this up, along with some interesting news I'll put up later....

Amount of times I nip past for some tea after coming home from the workshop, must have just missed you guys every time!

Brill, workshop is only over the motorway so no further than the last one for me Their food/snacks were fairly decent last time I went too, if they're still open by then.

Ed's cracked on today and got one side finished:

's why we've given the front end another 3.5" of travel - there's more chance of the wheels staying on the floor now

Probably sort you some bits out

Here you go, RR's get the exclusive on todays update (well, for a while anyway) New upper mounts in progress for the damper, didn't really want to put a kink in the arms (need to be as stiff as possible) but couldn't clear the damper when it's fully compressed without, good enough anyway, another tie-rod to go down the chassis toward the rear mudguard mount when the mudguard gets altered - may as well - but it's stiff enough without: Don't worry, it's not getting heavier, it's all thin-wall T45 tube, lighter than it looks! Certainly lighter than the plate tower that was there before anyway.

Yeah, I made the wishbones, they're T45 tube + EN14 fittings. The Foxes are quite nice on a road car actually, everything is made to last - just had to machine the casings and rods down to get them short enough!
Setting up doing more fast road/track stuff, perhaps the odd spaceframed beastie.

Doh, did seem to be a lot more idiots buzzing around than usual, there's always the option of moving over the road to the pub for a month just to see if they get the hint and stop turning up once they see no-one there? Assuming they're turning up from hearing about rather than looking on here of course!

Right, few people going down so I'll see anyone else that's can see straight by now there

I generally use kunifer for everything, even though my set will flare stainless it's not really worth the extra expense and it still has a corrosion problem if you're screwing it into ally calipers.

Well, if there's a few going anyway I'll have a run down then.

That red one's safari racer I worked on for a friend of mine, same as our buggy in my other other thread, but about 10x the budget! BMW M5 V10 in a T45 spaceframe, 4wd, paddle shift, etc, etc. Pretty nippy but he's not got the teething issues sorted yet (cooling mainly!)
Honey monster - they're pretty simple in terms of disassembling and sorting out oil viscosity + shims (although I've got a nice little bit of software/spreadsheet that helps comparisons there too), when you're getting into the internal friction, cavitation, flutter, etc, it gets a bit more complex, and when you start considering the top mounts, etc, too you start need some complex modelling software tbh - but you don't really need that just to be able to strip, adjust and rebuild dampers if you don't want to. Peter Verdone's damping site on his wiki is a good place to start for an idea, the Fox and King websites have instructions on the strip down and adjustment of the dampers, although without much explanation of what you're actually doing.

Glad you like it, this is just the ground work though, much bigger plans for this year!

At the minute, just in the middle of setting a business up doing cages/braces/suspension bits and bob with a mate of mine, put the skills to use! Going off topic a bit as an excuse to post more shiny photos, but the last couple of years was building/designing/machine bits for these, 'till the recession killed it: (no, the website doesn't work any more, save you trying )

Well, it's no fun if people come into the thread expecting lots of shiny things, better if they expect a shed.
In this case, best of both worlds, a shed with shiny bits bolted on...

Is there a meet tommorow or is it postponed whilst everyone screws their heads back on?

They do a 10lb version for drums too (mine are 2lb versions as they're off another project that went unused)

Work fine for me, used them on other projects with no trouble either - they've taken a few mm of slack out of the pedal - and they've stopped the auto-adjusters on the back doing the usual peugeot trick and slipping back a tooth when pressing on, which was irritating.
