No pictures but managed to get the central locking working,it became a priority when it mysteriously locked the fuel cap! An easy fix in the end as the drivers door unit was not connected! Screwed it back to the door and hooked the rod back on and bingo! No fittings in the boot, as the lid was changed a few years ago,think I'll just get hold of a new lock. Car still running rich and not idling, revs between 500 and 1000 on the counter and was never smooth driving around so though I'd check the spark plugs, was surprised to see they looked ok. Thought I'd do some basic checks and looked at the plug leads. I'd noticed ages ago car come with jubilee clips holding the leads onto the coils, I'd taken them off when I had the non start problem and was blaming the coils for it. Yep putting a tie rap on one of the coil has really improved how it drives! Think the problem is the contact onto the coil itself has worn down so the leads don't fit on snuggly.Another easy fix 😄 Still doesn't idle perfect and takes longer than it should to start from cold, I'm hoping this is because someone in the past has removed part of Citroen's cold start mechanism!

I've always fancied a cx, i got as far as buying a haynes manual. Keep up the good work! Thank you! Get one while people are still scared of the hydraulics. parts are still available, new and used. There are only 61 on the road according to how many left, but lots on sorn. I think they are so undervalued, but I might be biased 🤣

Managed to fix the central locking and the interior lights without breaking anything else, or spending money, which is a bit new to me with this car. Getting on well now with fixing it up, just need to drive it more now I'm trusting it better, hopefully that will improve the ideling too. Next jobs are to think about painting it all, not sure if I want to tackle 2 pack paint at home and to fix the heater motor and the boot lock, the original boot is long gone along with the central locking mechanism for it, I have a standard boot without the gubbins for the central locking.re wire the front fogs and then I'll swop the non standard spheres with the correct turbo ones I got from Stan, pictured above.sounds easy, thanks for reading 😀 I'm still within my budget too😉😎

Fixing the Speedo splitter ( one cable goes to the Speedo and the other to the power steering to provide speed sensitive stearing. It's hidden below the cross member on top of the gearbox and if a pig to see let alone remove. Obviously the speedometer cable itself broke while fixing this,I shoved it back in for now, oddly it still works. Result!!

Now I've got an original washable filter I fixed up the badly repaired air box that came with the car, bit of black paint hides the poor welds! Unsurprisingly the car idles better with the go faster filter the car came with in the bin. Still not great though, so will need more time to get it sorted. It's definitely not an vacuum leak so I'm guessing it's a senser or maybe the original coils?

Started with the twin belts ,easy enough when you realise that you have to un bolt the pulley to get them on, after you take another belt off first though!

Got some bits off the cx guro Stan, if you ever want a cx speak with him before doing anything, he really knows the cars inside out and he's a great guy as well. So thought I'd better get going on my to do list!

I do love that 70s gold/bronze but i remember some very tasty ice blue CXs in my youth, but I do thing the Aston California Sage green looks great on everything I've blue cx you say 😂

I followed one of the staff in Practical Classics doing up one of these. He stated that you really need to get in on the owners club (Citroen) as they are really helpful in problem solving, parts finding and supply as well as advice. Hi yes I've joined up, hopefully I've got a pile of stuff coming my way soon! Yes most cars that come up for sale are already known to the members, including mine!

Took it out for a drive this afternoon, still got lumpy idle. Oh and managed to break just the two things... Top one is the ' de airater' thats attached from the header tank to the heater matrix.. thought I'd just tighten up this leaky jubilee clip, pipe snapped clean off, my temporary fix with gorilla glue was just that. Bottom is the fan belt, interesting cx's should have two as the belts run the hydrostatic pump, alternator and the water pump.mine obviously had just the one so I'm stuck with a broken car again

Made some progress on this, but was held up by a non starting issue that was driving me mad. After checking everything I could think of over and over ( and breaking a few wires on the way) the cx guro Stan ( who knows everything about these cars) asked me to look at the injection computer, oh I said the ones in the glovebox ( there are two in there, a Aei box that runs the ignition and a knock sensor ) I've done that. But apparently there's another hidden in the dash buy your knee, it took ages to get it out, ended up pulling the mounting screws clean out of the bulkhead as they had rusted solid😡 ...it wasn't plugged in properly. Started first time. No pictures as I was desperate to get it sorted before it rained again. Went out for a celebration drive and it lost power, I hadn't plugged the Aei back in properly, least I found that quickly! It takes about 10 seconds to start now so there is something not quite right and it idles a bit lumpy, but happy for now. In other news.. Fixed the electric fans by cleaning up the 3 relays that if works from! Son fitted rear seatbelts and fixed one rear electric windows and fitted a cassette playe.

Should have added about that me and my financial advisor have come up with a 400 quid fund to fix all the above and anything else, not including any body work it obviously needs, that will have to wait! hopefully most of the electrical problems will be fixable with time rather than money. Oh it needs rear seatbelts too, thankfully it has the fixings so at least it will be an easy job.first think will be to find out what all the relays do near the battery

Did find this though under the seat ... Pretty much proves that it was taken off the road by its second owner within 6 months from October 94. I think the tax disc holder is from a finance company too? 😁
