Hi all, decided to sell my spare E30 shell, I'm never going to get time to do anything with it so hopefully someone else will. It's a 1990 320 2 door in faded brilliant red, has the rare opening rear quarter-light windows as well as a sunroof. The shell is solid underneath and in very good condition overall, the front valance is not shown in most of the pics but is blue after I took it of another car. The front drivers chassis rail has a 20mm recess welded into it so to clear the alternator of the v8 that was in it. The brake servo has been changed to a hydro-boost unit from the 740, again in order to give room for the v8. The interior is black leather with manual seats, though the headliner will need replacement or a good clean due to damp getting in it. I took the carpets out years ago to dry store them so these are in great condition, though not pictured. The electric windows were working when I took it off the road but I haven't tried these for some time. The car has a 5 stud disc conversion at the back from a E36 compact, along with a 3.15 LSD from an E36 (the e30 subframe was modified to fit this). The front is currently sitting on e46 sport struts and lower arms just to move the shell around hence the ride height, it did have coil overs but I kept these for my other car. The wheels are a set of genuine 17" Alpina soft-lines in a staggered setup, 8" front and 9" rears. The tyres all have tread but are old, so up to you if you want to use them. I can also throw in a spare m52 engine and box if the buyer wants them, I was keeping it for this car so may as well go with it. The logbook is here in my name, along with some history. I can help with loading onto whatever you bring to collect it with, we have a huge forklift so ramps are not an issue. I'm asking £1500 for this, which I think is a fair price for a non rusty E30. I'm located in Thame, Buckinghamshire. Please call Simon on: 07903982627 for more details. And now some pics...

That one was 245mm, but there is one at 341mm. Could it be that one? Can we have a pic of the other end? I know the 341mm one, parts manager at Volvo showed it me, mine has a ‘T’ piece, the 341 is straight . How about 324mm with a "t" end? link

The VW coils are way overpriced for what they are, and as said above there is no difference between normal and "red" coils.
The ones to use at the moment are made by Bosch for ford engines, I'll get you the part number Sunday. They are about £28 each from ECP.

What method are you using to look for a vacuum leak? The best way I have found is using brake cleaner with the engine running.
Normally unplugging the MAF sensor will make the engine ecu run in closed loop setting, if it feels like it has more power then you could have a faulty maf, but check for air leaks first.

Thank you caret 3.6 but it was such a simple fix in the end. I took off the fuel filler cap and heard an almighty whoosh as air rushed in. I can only assume that the hot weather has made the air in the tank expand and once cooled fresh air couldn't get in. Once the tank had the vacume removed it started first crank but took a couple of seconds to run correctly. Thanks for your helpful suggestion. No problem. BUT.... If it's doing that the breather valve on the tank is probably blocked with dirt, might be worth a little look underneath to see what condition it's in.

Undo all 4 injector line unions and crank the engine till you get fuel coming out, tighten up and it should splutter into life. Has it still got the lucas pump on it?

I subscribed to it for many years, but not for a long while now. Began to feel like I’d seen it all before, it was getting expensive and I discovered Internet forums, so I could get my fix from RR and Old School NZ….. Nick Same story here. I used to buy every issue but lost interest 5 years ago, it was fun but started to get a bit boring. Found a few good forums and rarely buy any of the magazines now. The only magazine I really did enjoy recently was Modern classics (sadly now finished), I've yet to try classic.retro.modern.

I think Billy did have a full turbo technics exhaust at one point, I converted his car from a 220 to a 320 and he bought it for that. If not it might be worth a call to Hughes of Beaconsfeild, they were the installers for these kits when they were new and still had a stock of exhausts in their warehouse a few years back.
I would bin the original Merc cat if I were you, a high flow race cat is alot less restrictive.

These were not the most quietest of setups even when they were new, does it have the original turbo Technics exhaust on it still?
I redid one with profusion exhaust parts, 3" pipe throughout with some glass pack silencers. It was fairly quiet at idle but would bark when you put your foot down.
I think your best bet is to take it to an exhaust specialist and discuss it with them, there is nothing off the shelf that will be as refined as you need.

If you are considering going efi don't bother with any of the aftermarket stuff, the later m104 is a direct fit and will run on the merc ecu. OR bin the K-jet and fit a set of 6 bike carbs to the m103, lovely noise and you wont need an aftermarket ecu.

2) Got a filter for said oil system, it fouls the intake I was making. Rats. looks like a remote oil filer is in my future. How much extra clearance do you need to clear the manifold? The m103 filter has a m20 thread so you can fit different filters.
