yeh, sounds bizzare but the injection cold start system has a sensor in the water system & when theres air in the coolant flow every time it passes the sensor it makes it read crazy, richen up the mixture/up the idle momentarily............presto....idle surge!!
ay thenk you!!

Top car & what a bargain!!!! I worked for Honda as a mechanic from 88-95 & these were always my fave oddball quick Honda. Was actually looking for 1 to make into a trackday car so I'm a bit jealous The idle surge is down to air in the cooling system.....top it up cold then warm the engine up at idle till it starts surging, then crack the 12mm air bleeder (just below the dizzy i think) & then pick up the idle to about 2k & wait for all the air bubbles to stop comin & good clean water to come through. Job jobbed & very common on this car, even when they were new. Not bad for me 1st post.....

No the engine in the 924 is just a boggo standard 2.0 8v (very similar to the LT van lump!)

wow, you've been busy on this one. I owned a Martini 924 about 5yrs ago (a 77' too!)
The later 924's are galvanised but mine was so early in the production run (Feb 77) that it had points ignition & wasnt galvanised underneath...............came with a very ropey floor!!
funnily though they don't make big money for a rare car.......top work though mate!
