I've found some parts cross over with the W124, but not many.. Fortunately it has been a great car for us, just need to move it on now. Yes they do share the same parts as the w124 and w140, but these are strong cars so nothing usually needs doing but when it does its expensive, remembet how mine soaked up around £3000 when I took it out of storage with replacing the perishables, much more expensive to upkeep than my 82 GTI, but worth it when you hear put your foot down on the m119. 960

It's weird, I fitted the hard top last week and actually prefer the way it looks as a "coupe". Thank you for the bumps! Do you have any pictures of it with the hardtop on?

I had a chance to see the mixture yesterday and it was running rich, I have adjusted the mixture so hopefully do a oil change and plugs, I used the gunsons colortune and it's starts to give me a slight yellow light around 2500 rpm and sudden acceleration, but idle bunsen blue flame is OK

I was always told that a good oil will blacken up pretty quickly as the detergents do their job. How many miles ? James Not many miles at all, I would say about 500ish, I think it's down to mixture as I did put new plugs in and the other day it was coughing n spluttering so I removed the plugs and they were covered in carbon, so it defo rich in mixture

Hello guys need to put my mind at ease as why the oil in my 1982 golf 1.6 gti had gone black only a few months after a oil change, I did have idling issue to where I adjusted the mixture, so could this be a cause of the engine running rich and causing it to turn the oil black or could there be other issues that could cause the oil to turn black, all help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Hello, I had a moment over the weekend that's left me having skid marks both on in my trousers and the road, after buying padgid brake cylinders from ECP, and fitting them to my car I took the car out for a second run this weekend when after just returning home I felt the brakes go, so seeing fluid pouring from the rear wheel I thought it be a lose bleed nut, but after removing the rear drum only to realise the inner seal of the wheel cylinder was buggered and it was curse word out fluid, called ECP who apologied and said they will send a replacement but I totally lost faith in the product so was wondering what is a good brand for rear wheel cylinders, I seen TRW, FEBI, BORG & BECK, ETC etc, but was wondering which brand produces good quality products, all help greatly appreciated in advance thank you

Thanks guys, I saw the with ones on eBay and they do seem good for someone like me that won't be doing lots of brake pipe work but when needed it's there, so with the situ ones can you buy extra dies to accommodate different sizes of pipes

Hello guys need to put some new fittings on my 3/16 brake pipes for my mk1 golf, and was wondering what will be the best flaring tool to go for, I seen some on ebay and they come in different shapes and sizes, so unsure what one will be best ones, it be nice to have a go to tool in the future so one that accommodates other pipes will be great but hopefully not blowing the budget as it won't be in everyday use like a garage will need, all help and links to the products will be greatly apprictated.

Sure this would be snapped up quick. These now command a premium and yours is very well priced. Being a 1992 no biodegradable harness. I bet this would be sold within a week. Stick it on car and classic aswell. Thanks mate, its a lovely motor, they don't make mercedes like they used to these days.

Thanks guys hope it goes to a good home, jumping between my w213 and the w124, you realise the better build quality of the w124, compared to newer Mercedes, the older Mercedes were the ones that were built to last.

Hello guys need some help I recently realised my heater blower wasn't working on my 1982 golf which has the early CE1 torpedo fuse box, after various testing I realised the 12v switch wire for the heater blower had burnt out on the connector, I renewed it all and still it wasn't working, so I wired the 12v switch wire for the heater blower to my battery and it worked, so now I belive that the pin on the fuse box is not working or has burnt out, now what will be the best way to tackle this, there is a fuse on the fuse box that I believe is "fresh air blower", I take it this will be the heater blower motor, which is a 16 amp torpedo style fuse, now if I was to remove that fuse and place it in to a inline torpedo fuse holder and run the wire from my battery so I'm getting 12v for the blower to work would this be OK, or is there any thing else I could use,I believe there could be some ignition live spades on the fuse box but unsure weather they are fused or not and I'm not sure if It be OK, all help is greatly appreciated thank you.
