rattlecan It's really just the RR computer nerds making our computers daydream pictures of cars for our amusement. The computers, being computers, have seen 'cars' but don't really understand them that well, so they often come out a bit 'wrong' looking. But that's half the fun - the happy accidents, the weirdness and the way they'll just make any picture based purely on your whims. Want a VW Beetle made of wood on the moon? "No problem. Do you want it to be a 1965 or 67?"

Hmmm Is the 'Saab Sonnett' a Datsun 240Z And the electric GT40 a Tesla truck? Funnily enough, I nearly specified the metro as being the tall one! It isn't a 240Z. But it is a Nissan Yup - Cybertruck. Would make a cool racecar. Had to be the tall metro. rude not to

well they are just quality ..👍😍 i just wondered how you felt about AI ? ..as you have the photoshop (and more) skills that shame us all in the first place Haha well that's very kind. How do I feel? Well everything in moderation I think is the best way to put it. Like anything, as a tool it can be amazing and I find is really good for sparking 'out of the box' ideas. But rarely is it good as a 'final product' if that makes sense. Like all the above I got it to do are cool in their way, but also deeply flawed if you look properly at them. Things a human would never do. So it's cool and all, but only as part of the creative process

These ones not done with Bing, but with Stable Diffusion (A slightly different way to crack the same nut). I got it to make Syd Mead 1970s sci-fi concept versions of retro cars (sort of tracing over existing photos). They are just so awesome. Can you guess what they are based on? (try squinting) {Viewed from a distance | half length shot}, intense, ((art by syd mead+, Christophe Young)), ((concept rounded-sportscar 70s)) high resolution, sharp focus, highly detailed, rainy, night, kawai

westbay I have seen those sort of outlets, but they don't instil a lot of confidence. But probably worth another try - thanks for the tip.

Honestly - what gives with eBay 'Breaking' auctions?
I have a 21 year old Forester that is getting increasingly hard to get parts for, and the enticing looking auctions for 'breaker' cars seems like a great way to get hold of these rare parts.
So I need a bonnet catch, or a non-frayed seatbelt, or whathaveyou. "All parts available - Message for details" says the auction.
So I message, and they don't get back to me. Or on the rare occasion they do, they then ghost me if postage or talk of actually removing the part comes into the equation.
Sorry—but I'm not driving from Kent to Northumbria to pick up a pair of tailgate gas-struts.
Small parts, big parts - no matter. It feels like I'm doing something wrong. Like I haven't learnt the correct masonic handshake to get things moving. I'm always pleasant and can-do.
What gives? - I Want The Part - Just Take My Money! -
Ugh. Just venting. Anyone got any advice to break the chain of disappointment I feel on this?

Like all kit cars, all the fibreglass is as wonky as a chocolate fire-grate. But it has a bit of potential I guess. I'd lean into the feeling that they were going for the Matra Rancho / Toyota Tercel market (and those Duttons of course) but trying to look Range-Rover'y too. I get the 'surf van' feel could be fun, but there's not much room for the stripes to go up the sides unless you put decals on the windows. So - I went simple. 70s Olive green, Range Rover rims, some yellowey-orange 'Rover/Mini' style decals, some Range-Rover winkers, better trim around rear window, Vinyl roof stuck on rear quarters... Oh and a bit of stick - say 2 inches? The less said about the Mk3 GRS the better. I mean - if escort estates existed, and cortina estates existed, why would you graft a mk3 escort boot onto a mk 4 cortina? Beggars belief!

I was asked by truckdoctor if I had any more pictures of this - a Photoshop I did way-back-when of an R50 Mini 'Clubman' - 70s BL flat front end achieved by leveraging the Bedford CF-esque front end of the Phase-II Nissan Cube, as the legendary fellow is only thinking of building one in the flesh! I didn't have more pix, but thought it ripe to create a couple of new ones, strictly for mojo-building purposes. I still think it would be good - so much more businesslike than the whimsical cartoony retro front it usually has. As said before by others, a last-model Jimny front clip might also work - though perhaps a little narrow? Or a Toyota BB. Because of the clamshell nature of the R50 bonnet / lack of actual wings in front of the wheels, I don't think you'd be doing anything structural so... bit of metalwork, bit of fibre-glass, bit of filler and badda-bing. W h a t a c o o l l i t t l e N u g g e t ! (10/10 would drive) (these were done quite quickly so apologies for the messiness in the details)

This flagged randomly as part of an overland f/b group... there are zero details about it(or if its even real) , but I'm pretty sure it's something that will find an appreciative audience here.. Pretty sure it's a 3D render (and the Miura above too) but both are super-sweet anyway

Oh that's easy.. The Volvo 140/240 estate. For cost reasons saloons and wagons had the same rear doors. So a Great Car Design that stood the test of time for 20 odd years with this one 'bad' flaw (well two - one on each side ) (the little downward swoop that doesn't meet up with the boot area windows)

On the internet, you can type in words, and then computers make images based on the words is about the gist of it. I thought I'd get them to do pictures of old cars all smushed together

HoTWire Well it's not as extreme as I hoped, and looks like an E30 had a kid with a Corolla but... edit - ooh some nicer screenprint style versions! [mashes 'create version' button again]

ajpriceThere's loads of different rendering algorithms in midjourney - you need to use --testp --creative after your prompts and it should look photographic. Adding in things like 'telephoto' '4k' 'dslr' also helps. edit - also they'll always be square unless you specify an aspect ratio with --ar 4:3 or --ar 16:9 etc (any ratio should do)
