Looking very smart. Is that Cedral cladding? I think it’s the same as I’ve had put in the gable end of my house to resolve a penetrating damp issue. Coastline cladding supplied by eurocell. I did get some samples off coastline and cedral before I ordered and the cedral was like a cement board rather than composite and much heavier, it was the trims and finishing pieces that coastline do to go with their product that won it for me. They are both equally as expensive.

Love your workshop, its certainly taking shape and those roof panels are exactly what I have been looking for but cant seem to find. would you mind telling me where you purchased them from? I got the tile effect sheets from Mighty Structural Products who are based in Walsall near to Bescot stadium. They also supplied the box profile sheets and all the steel flashing to my requested sizes and they deliver within 2 weeks of ordering.

Maybe I should have put an extra timber above the window. Only time will tell. It is double at the top which in my mind at the time was sufficient for what was above it. I have still been on this at every spare moment along with my farther in law. First up was the back and side which are not in view so I decided that steel sheets were the way to go for a no nonsense, no maintenance kind of way. I then turned my attention to inside due to the fact I had a fair few 8x4 sheets of 18mm plywood which were in the way and I needed to empty my plastic shed which required putting its contents in the new shed. This was now at the point I could decant the plastic shed and the gt shell into it to try and make some space and progress. At this point my brother decided he wants to sell his boxter as he has not driven it for a couple of years and he thinks the money off it would be more useful in his account rather than filling his garage but even though it passed the MOT it needed new radiators due to the original ones leaking so I had a day off the shed to help him get that ready for selling. After finishing the job the very next time he put the key in the ignition the barrel broke so it is awaiting my attention again before selling it. It has only done 5?k and is a really good one and I have advised a classic auction as a preferred method to sell due to not dealing with idiots and the milage along with condition enabling him to just scrape in to such a sale. I need to get it moved to my house to repair it as once we push it out of his garage it is out until its fixed and my tools are at my house not his. In the meantime the electric is connected in the shed. I had ordered my finishing trims for the steel and I had to wait a couple of weeks for delivery. As soon as they arrived they were on. So then it was the costly part of the cladding of the 2 sides I have to look at. I went for composite cladding which blew the budget coming in at £1300. Literally the day after it was delivered we drove to the south of France to stay at my wifes aunties place. The highlight for me was the drive home via Reims. Great place and something which would never happen in this country. It would be covered by a housing estate here but 50 years on it still stands. So on my return it is cladding time. That is where I am up to. I am hoping to have the cladding finished this weekend and I will turn my attention to a leaking roof before it becomes a real problem and might even start the patio depending how the weather holds out.

It is a job on my to list. I have priced up the parts and it is around £300 for the bits (detachable towbar and wiring kit) the programming is the bit I need to look into. I was expecting £500 if I just took it somewhere to have done. If it's a the same as a mate's Passat, that's about right. I'd go to a proper guy even if the costs are steep on the face of it. Doing it wrong can wreck the car's ECUs. A friend of mine had a lucky escape. Another friend however with a Tesla got in a very messy case with a garage of where the blame lied. In short, the car got written off. I know of a good towbar fitter for moderns, who trains up everyone and is reasonable cost wise, if anyone is interested. He was the chap who fixed my mate's Passat. In his case, he did everything correctly, and wired it up right. However, leaving the key in proximity to the car meant that the car wouldn't even start after he fitted the towbar; this was not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, and naturally, the towbar sellers blamed my friend, for something he could never have foreseen without experience. He crapped himself for a week, thinking he had a large paperweight on the drive (EPB and electric steering lock, so he was stuffed for even pushing it anywhere). Interesting. What is the location of this guy you know? He maybe the man for the job.

Blimey, I have snapped a few wheel studs on Mini's over the years but never had a wheel fall off. My mate had a metro loose a wheel nut years ago and the remaking 3 had to be re-tightened every half a mile as they were coming loose. It was down to 2 with about a mile left to make it home and the wheel came off as his house was in sight. We had to knock a trolley up to push it the last few yards. If you only had 2 behind the hubcap it clearly didn't have 4 to start with. I would be giving it a good going over checking everything is tight.

Car looks great with the graphics on Phil, and well done with feature! Just read it whilst on the boat as we’re off to classic Ford tomorrow 👍 I travelled down this afternoon, I am staying 10 miles from the show as I hadn't got room for camping gear. I am on the Classicford stand at the show. So I may well see you tomorrow.

So Classicford dropped onto my doormat this morning which means only one thing, the issue has my car featured inside. Fair play to the editor getting a copy out to me the day before it is in the shops. Perfect timing for the Classicford show that is on this Sunday.

I have painted a car at home and you will be needing some kind of extraction as without it your garage will fill up in a couple of minutes and you will be painting blind which is never going to give a good result.

I was very much alive in 1984 but was only a kid and Pleck was not somewhere my parents ventured to much. I will have to be more observant next time I am down that side of town to see if I can spot it. I was only down that way this morning as I had to go over by Bescot to order something.

So I guess there was some outstanding rent/charges that the cars were sold to cover?

Interesting as I am in Walsall. Never heard of the dealer though but I am perhaps a little to young. The only local one I remember was the one on the Wolverhampton Rd which I think was Willenhall coachcraft.

I have been working on the workshop at every opportunity since the last update approximately 5 weeks ago. First off with much faffing and trimming I had roof joists that were level with each other and the frame was more or less finished at this stage apart from a few bits that needed adding under the window aperture. Then the 18mm plywood sheets went on the roof and some breatherble membrane to try and keep the rain off the frame. At this point I ordered my roofing sheets but while I was waiting I started with the 10mm plywood on the walls. I did add the extra timber below the window before this. Then it was in with the window and doors. Then my roof sheets turned up. I went for tiled effect on the roof as I think they look a little better and worth the little extra money. It feels like I have just been tidying up doing little jobs for the last couple of weeks which mainly centred around the membrane and the facia area. My upvc facials had turned up on the same day as the steel sheets and it has took all my spare time this weekend getting them on but it is starting to be a visual improvement now everytime I do something. I need to order some steel flashing to really just have the walls left. I have the cladding for the 2 sides that I won't see so that's the next job. I also need to order the cladding for the 2 sides I will be looking at which once done will make it look finished from the outside.

I have had this and I think it was down to the wheels being stored outside not fitted to a car and water sitting in the rim causing rust to start between the rim and center. Perhaps the car had alloys at some point and these steels were stacked up in the garden not covered up.
