Well it's almost 14 years to the day since I joined RR and goodness knows how many BMW's. I'm really enjoying the Compact though, despite maybe being a little more modern than I'd have liked ideally. The plan now is to build a fast road and occasional track day car whilst keeping to a strict budget. There are so many decent quality products available now and I want to see how some of the cheaper products fair. I'll also be writing about the project for Performance BMW magazine and plan on making another film for Petrolicious as I did with the E30 M3. All being well, I'll be going to the Nurburgring as the location. I'm a way off all that yet though. The first job has been swapping those OE rims for some 17 x 8 aftermarket and fitting them with Michelin tyres in 225/45r17 all round. I also fitted hubcentric spacers with 20mm rears and 12mm fronts. I was really surprised at just how much of a difference they've made and how much more eager it is to turn in. The wheels fill the arches so much better too and I really like how the car looks from the rear. Initially I was going to go with some used suspension but having done some digging around on various forum I've opted to go with MTS Technik who use Eibach springs. They do a competition spec kit but as this is a primarily a road car (and Cornish lanes aren't exactly smooth!) I opted for their Comfort spec. They're very reasonably priced and come with 2 years unlimited mileage warranty. You can't say fairer than that really. I'm also committed to working on the car myself and have been collecting various tools over the past few months. It might be a bit more effort and take me a bit longer but I'm up for the challenge.

Where did 2 years go? Basically my health and personal life turned to 5hit. The 02 and E34 had to be sold. I then came over all weird and bought something French and front wheel drive. Antibiotics and a good head wobble have seen me get back into a BMW with a six pot.

Hiya. I want to buy a set of alloys (no tyres and clean) but the seller will not wrap for courier collection. He is in Stratford Upon Avon but sometimes goes to Bristol. Unfortunately I am in Truro, Cornwall so miles away from both. Is there anyone who could liaise with this chap and collect the rims on my behalf please? Ideally then wrap for a courier if I arrange it? Unless you're coming to Cornwall? Obviously I will pay for your help. Mark. These are they...

As per title, I want to buy a single reclining bucket seat from a chap in Fareham but he won't wrap or allow courier collection.
Ideally I would like someone to either collect and wrap for me, or better still, if you're coming to Cornwall bring it down. Big ask I know.
Beer token on offer to saint that helps me out.

Many moons ago I used to have a bit of a thing for certain types of Renault 5. It started when I bought a TS that had been a race car in the Daily Star backed race series. It wasn't exactly fast but it looked good and weighed about the same as a wet Rizla paper and was a hoot to drive. A desire for more power saw me swap it for another R5, albeit a Gordini Turbo. Actually being a LHD car it was badged an R5 Alpine and on boost (what there was of it) it would torque steer for all it was worth. It would also spin on a sixpence when the rear tyres were cold and could easily catch you out. It was still great fun to drive though, or was until the clutch went. I took it to one of those Mr Clutch places in Maidstone and also had someone refresh the gearbox. Unfortunately it lasted about 50 yards before it started slipping. Mr Clutch blamed the gearbox until the engineer who'd done the work reached up to be back of the engine and pulled out the remains of the old pilot bush that Mr Clutch had failed to replace, hence all that fresh oil destroying the new clutch! They replaced it but the gear change was never the same and I kinda fell out of love with the Alpine after that. I also bought a BMW 1502 and have had BMW's ever since. Anyway, recent poor health and financial woes have meant I no longer own a proper BMW and with values as they are, it's very unlikely I shall again. I simply don't earn enough and my health limits what I am able to do. As a result, I set my sights a little lower and whilst an R5 is now a classic and big money, it's newer cousin was just within reach. Just. So the other day, this arrived on a trailer...

This is actually my plate and am selling to raise cash for vets fees. I will accept a sensible cash offer from RR forum member. It's a pretty sound investment given the plates on Plates4Less start at £800. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394564408822Thanks, Mark

Long shot but am looking for someone who might be up for driving a Renault Clio the 351 miles from Moreton (Wirral) to Truro (Cornwall)? Or if anyone has a spot on a trailer or transporter? I only have a budget of circa £200'ish + fuel though, so this may well be wishful thinking on my part.
Clio is all up and running with an MOT so can be driven.

As per the title, I need a Renault Clio 172 brought down to Cornwall from Lincoln. There no desperate rush but ideally within a week or 2 would be good. Unfortunately it's a non runner so driving it isn't an option. Can anyone help please? Mark

curse word.
It'll be worth the effort but still a right PITA when you're not expecting it.
