I have a 1999 2.0 (ADY) Sharan. Up until last week it had a intermittent miss whilst driving, which was gradually getting worse. Decided to put a new rotar arm and dizzy cap as inside contacts looked burnt, made no difference to the running.
Looked at the throttle body and cleaned it as it looked gummed up. Reconnected TB and new set of leads as old ones seemed to be brittle. Car started but was running on 2 cyclinders, then died and now no longer starts at all.
Brief history parts that have been changed:
-crankshaft sensor (last year)
-water temp sensor
-new plugs, leads, rotar arm, dizzy cap. (3rd set of each )
-new exhaust, recent cat
-O2 sensor (last year),
-New number 30 relay,
-new coil (again last year)
The car is turning over, and the plugs are getting wet and seems to be getting spark but will not fire.
Do throttle bodies need to be realigned on the ADY engine? i have had a basic code reader done, threw up 00515 00518 and 00530 as error codes, but all these sensors had been disconnected at some point. once erased none came back until we redisconnected the throttle position sensor (checking dodgy connections) then 00518 and 00530 came back as error codes.
