So begins another season!! massive thankyou from me to all the 60-odd carloads of RR-ers who made the trek down to Brean Sands for a day's R&R. A great time was (hopefully) had by all!
A couple of whinges first. I'm happy to 'organise' (I just knock up the posters, the rest is down to you guys) events like this, and I'm sure HW is quite happy to have the Retro-Rides moniker associated with it. I'm not sure if he'd be quite so keen if he'd have seen the small number of half-brained knobheads who thought it highly amusing to show off their very poor drifting skills on a public beach with children and small animals milling around on the sand. I won't dwell on this other than to say your actions made you and only you look like a bunch of wan*ers, both to the rest of us and the public at large. DO NOT TARNISH OUR REPUTATION.
More importantly than that, the burger van was nowhere to be seen. Given that it WAS there last week this was a major disappointment. I did think about trying to contact the local council to see if I could sort out their definite attendance, but given the antics of the one or two mindless idiots mentioned above I'm kinda glad I didn't.
Anyway, having got that out of the way, enjoy the pics......
Loved seeing this old stager. had it not been for a combination of flu, bad weather and bad timing I could well have ended up buying this myself. Epic Passat.
This gave me a semi.....which intensified when I saw this....
Craig's Passat with 'None nore Orangey' Porker rimmage.
Kieran 'Ditch' Sifford's hotrod/lakes inspired Corsa still daring to be different, which is what it's all about.
I haven't sean a stock Mk2 Golf looking this clean in a LONG time.
HOW low? Awesome.
Gorgeous slammed E30.
kfw fell in love with this. He's right, there's something about a 100E on 15's.
300+ mile round trip for the owner of this Fiat 127. Shame there aren't many left, lovely-looking cars.
Brat-man firing up the BBQ he'd towed down behind his incredible Brat. Thanks for that buddy, much appreciated by everyone who used it to cook their scram on!!!!! ;D
Series 1 3-dr 309GTi's are getting very scarce these days. This one was in fine fettle.
At this point I had a small trouser explosion. Feck me, that's GORGEOUS.
kfw's new ride making its debut appearance in his hands. At this point I don't think any of us could see for crying with laughter. Where would the world be without you Kev, you're a legend.
Having taken my newly-purchased Xantia down (didn't miss a beat there and back, and did 37mpg despite coming home at 85 most of the way....how's that for value) I was chuffed to see this similarly-aged Volvo 4-series. I think we should start a new category for 'Post-Retro'. Incredibly well looked-after. And talking of Volvos....
OOF. I had three of those back in the late 90's. ORSUM.
Fantastic Daytona Yellow Mk3 'Tina GT.
That's a LOT of work right there. Bloody lovely, and a 2dr to boot (excuse the pun, it's been a long day)
That made me spaff my jocks. Again!
behold, the Gruntymobile. Still as careworn as ever on the outside, but there's been a helluva lot of work going on underneath those scurvy-ridden flanks. I love this car.
OMGLOLWTF? Who debuted this bag of wibblepoo. Ohhh yeah. Me. Remember it this way, because you won't see it looking like this again. Plans is bein' made.....
The MM-MX5. I adore this the way it looks now. Especially on the inside, check this out....flawless.

It's gonna be a GREAT year!
Thanks again to everyone who dug deep into their pockets and made the effort to attend. I know how difficult things are for us all in these times of astronomical fuel prices, but we've got each other, that's what counts. The RR Community Spirit will pull us all through.
Enjoy the Summer, everyone. ;D
