love the look of this gti, and that bucket seat is fully droolworthy. i'm hoping to be owning one very soon. What car does the XU10 head come from and is it a direct replacement? I'm new to peugeots so picking up all these engine codes is hardwork

Nearly got the tank running on pure 97RON now so was able to advance the timing and gain that missing power. Hoping that once this tank has flushed through any pinking issues will have disappeared.

Still having pinking issues, and if I retard the ignition enough to stop it I lose too much power. I have a feeling it may be to do with the 1.6 dizzy (I've been told it has a better curve), and will have to wait until RRG before testing a 1.9 dizzy. I guess I should be ok if I drive there nicely

1.9 dizzy now fitted and its running 50x better than before. The last one must have been knackered and not just an issue with the different ignition curve! Here's a pic from RRG courtesy of Brian Damaged:

Got the driving lamps wired in (some fool removed half of the loom in the past for no obvious reason). Fitted a new relay and all the appropriate wiring, then soldered the switch wire to the high beam terminal on the back of the headlamp: Also sorted the oil pressure gauge as it wasn't reading accurately due to the thread size offset. The engine block is M10x1 and the aftermarket sender is 1/8 NPT, it did fit OK this way but wasn't giving an accurate reading. To fix this I fitted a male (M10x1) to female (1/8 NPT) adapter and used the supplied seal at the block end. It now gives the correct reading. Old sender: Adapter: New sender fitted with adapter: Oil pressure + voltage gauge:

Looking good at RRG mate, good to meet you (and Chasr) and thanks for the offer of assistance on mine. Managed to get it running obviously, new rotor arm and dizzy cap cured it! Random.

No worries, glad it was only those parts that failed. I could have pulled the ignition amp off for you but without the heat paste and fragile pins I would have been stuffed if I couldn't drive home

Had a dizzy refurbed by H&H Ignition Solutions. Phil was very helpful on the phone and they have also recurved it to suit my engine spec. Just waiting for a cap to turn up and it'll be ready to fit

It is looking sweet!
A fresh dizzy makes all the difference eh? Mine runs much better on the recon dizzy (again from H&H). I am sure (not that it matters) that my fuel mileage has improved as well, quite a handy thing when I am using it on the daily commute over the daily as it is repaired.
