sorry but at first i felt sorry for her, but knowing what we now do (which you failed to mention, giving a very biased 1 sided picture) it is hard to have much sympathy for her any more. If she really loved this van so much and wanted it back so bad she would have taken it when it was delivered over 400 miles to her as requested instead of being so difficult and sending it away again.
I know your intentions are good but i think you have probably exhausted way too much energy on this on her behalf, she has had it sat right outside her house waiting for her and yet she continues to have you chasing it again.

As for why I'm involved , before her Datsun also went missing, she was a customer of mine. She has been through a lot in life and I felt sorry for her to offered to do all i could to make her feel better and hopefully even if the Datsun never surfaces , the van is very get backable. I can relate to this, I've been involved in a couple of fools errands for customers and in the end up I didn't bill for the time, I just accepted that I'd done a nice thing to make someone feel a bit better about a bad situation. Some people don't really want it fixed but they need a hand getting things moving and then maybe they can just move on from it. Hope this hasn't taken up too much of your time datman and hope it's not got you too wound up.

I agree with this totally. Also knowing what we do now about how much she messed around the van owner when he tried to help her (is it any wonder he stopped being so helpful after that?), it makes me wonder what sort of situation might of led to the barn owner selling them on in the first place.

one of my few principles in life is not to bother helping someone who cant be bothered to help themselves- for whatever reason. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking she must have mental health issues influencing her rather odd behaviour here?
i think youre wasting your time datman, people like that will always be the 'victim' of themselves let alone the circumstances or anyone else. this situation was resolved until she bizarrely told the guy to take the van away again and signed it over to him. in those circumstances, after having my time and efforts wasted, i think id be keeping it too.

What a truely terrible attitude to other human beings . yes it sounds like she messed the land owner about by not paying him then messed the man around when he bought the van back

This is turning into a channel 5 soap. Let's allow this area of the forum go back to reports of stolen cars.

Well this thread became a bit pointless very fast.......time for all parties to just move on.
Kudos Datman for trying to help someone out but you can't help someone who won't help themselves.
