Ive been a little heavy handed removing the old leaking slave cylinders from my 67 triumph and managed to snap one of the two locking plates that hold it in place. The car uses single piston sliding cylinders so they cant be bolted in place. I'm dubious as to wether I can get original locking washers
I don't want to do this as it feels inherently wrong to me but if it comes to it would it be unsafe to cut something out of sheet steel the right shape.
The originals are two U shaped peices of metal that slot in from either end of the cylinder. They lock into each other and prevent the cylinder from pulling out of place when the pedal is pressed.

What variety of Triumph? There are many in 1967 flavour. I'm going to guess the 1300 FWD, from your username and the year. I suppose the Herald is a possibility, but I doubt it - you'd probably be bl13/60. ;D The originals would be spring steel, and IME have a pin (or lump) in one and a hole (or dip) in the other to lock them together, so I wouldn't try to make them. Try the various Triumph spares places - they can't be that rare. I think they're shared with many cars of a similar era - the Imp certainly uses similar clips. Rimmers list something that looks suitable on the Dolomite page, although it would be worth phoning them to make sure. www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID008502
