some of the things you've bought are still available from Mazda (ie the Rotary Engine badge)
I cry everytime I see a pointy nose bonnet cut up with a stupid bloody bonnet scoop. Yes, they are worth around $400-1000!
ps I know where there is a 2dr Escort sitting unloved, I'm thinking of sending it back to the UK to make a quick buck! hehe

Last time I went into a mazda dealer and asked about rx bits they didn't want to know... still I can try again! Like you I hate the v8 / supercharged/big hole in the bonnet 929/rx4's that have been done... its criminal! I had to laugh when one like that came up on ebay.com.au recently as a rolling shell, cut bonnet, mismatched panels and a BIN of $9000.... dreaming lol! Couple of minor updates.. I have carpet A nice brand new grey through out... just need to cut the gearstick and handbrake holes! Also been on the hunt for decent leads/coil/ and dizzy cap. NGK leads on order, Rotor arm on order and was surprised to find that at least two motor stores had the Bosch coil on the shelf! Just need to get a dizzy cap now! My dad had been busy too changing the door cards... they had a rather worn and curse word material on them so we ve gone for a good 70's vinyl look instead

just a thought if anyone can help me on this... I ve come to put the coil in my car and its just occured to me that as the car came with no coil etc in the first place, i ve no idea if it is a twin coil or single coil model Engine fitted is believed to be series 2 rx7 but I'm unsure.... any ideas>?

It'll need coils. Doesn't matter if its single or twin dizzy. One coil for the leading plugs and one for the trailing. If you use the existing wiring you'll need coils that run on 8 volts normal (ballast ignition) but I always do away with that and run series 1-3 rx7 single electronic dizzy with non ballast coils. Much better spark and very very simple to wire in. Wiring up a carbed rotary is very simple. I'll find a sketch I did for someone else... hang on a tick...

Thats excellent, really appreciate you digging those out and should be a big help! One other question as I try and piece my jigsaw together.... the loom that come from the electronic distributor.... where does it plug in? I was thinking fuse box, but since I ve not got a fuse box at present, I was unsure! quick cam phone snap of dizzy, with plug from dizzy shown on top of dizzy cap

Feel like i m slowly making progress!! Hopefully the exhaust should be completed in the next couple of weeks along side the modified air intake....
In the mean time I'm on the hunt for seat belts, internal door wires, screenwash bottle, steering wheel, wheel bolts, bumper caps and a battery clamp!

Been fairly busy on the hunt for more parts... decided my knackered old rx4 seats with covers weren't going to cut it so invested in some decent pews amongst other items! Genuine mazda boot lock... at last I have a car that I can actually lock up and not open with a screwdriver! Probably doubled the metal thickness in the boot plating the lock with this! Series 6 Mazda RX7 FD chairs... need rails modding but should fit nicely! Quick trial fit with re cover door cards... should look good I think! Picked up 4 of these tonight too, mainly for the pair of decent yokos on some of them but they are in pretty good nick, so we'll see what happens with them Also managed to get a full set of wheel bolts, a new straight rear bumper and a set of genuine rx4 inertia seat belts, screen wash bottle and the remainder of the internal door wires we were missing for correct operation! Picked up a spare fuel lid too... will probably try out some designs for the lid but am thinking maybe a japanese flag...

That's coming together nicely Cheers, yep between me, my dad and my bro were getting there! Just want January's pay cheque to come round so I can get my webber and get the old girl fired up ;D When cleaning up the rear seat belts they are labled as mazda with the old school logo and dated 4/75... was surprised they were genuine mazda as didnt think rear seat belts were even around in cars in 75!

Took the front wings off again whilst my dad was painting the underside of the car red, and decided to replace the sway bar steering arm bushes.... Just as well as this shot shows the better one removed! Quick tidy up req with black paint on struts, and just the front brakes to look at next!

Ahhhhh you have a series 1 electronic dizzy there. They have an external ignitor. The series 2 and 3 rx7s have the ignitors attached to the dizzy. Buy a first gen rx7 haynes manual and it covers it all otherwise the helpful fellows like Simrx3 and bumpstart etc on Ausrotary, will help you out.

You should really check out this thread!..... It covers upgrading the standard electronic ignition for one of two much better systems. It would be well worth while doing this while you have everything apart. I will be soon upgrading to 3 Bosch Hec 715 coils and Bim 024 ignition modules. This will be direct fire ignition for the leading plugs utilising a wasted spark setup. The wasted spark actually helps clean up any left over unburnt fuel at the very end of the expansion stage. ausrotary.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=96724

I ll have a look and see what I can figure out yep Bumpstart has given me advice already when I wasn't sure about starter motors and no of teeth! And judging by the amount of comments of Perth Rotary Forum he seems the authority on these things! Been part hunting again and got a few more bits and pieces... including a Weber I ve been after... Holley fuel regulator Metal king upgraded brake pads What a jolly pain in the backside they were too fit! One side took 20 mins to fit, the other side took over and hour and a half! The larger surface area of the pad combined with 40 year old chatter clips in the caliper meant there just simply wasn't enough room! Patience and a large file saved the day though and the brakes work perfectly now! Been checking what manifold I need for the weber... its a 45DCOE which I chose over an IDA mainly for two reasons, one its a third of the price of most IDA's and two the research I d did suggested it would give better lower down torque and streetabillity. I'm not after an out an out racer so this seemed a good compromise. Old one off... shows six ports Gasket only has four ports though... and appears like the other two ports on the block have been sealed?
