Those two extra round holes on the block are water ways for standard nikki manifold. You can just blank them off. But someone else has probably told you that by now. New manifold= very shiny!

Those two extra round holes on the block are water ways for standard nikki manifold. You can just blank them off. But someone else has probably told you that by now. New manifold= very shiny! Thanks I was wondering why they have ve been blanked off already! So the next question is what are the two round holes on the front on the manifold for?? Also in the process of replacing a gear box mount as previous owner bodgery has left one of them barely capable of taking the load! Plus i ve been head scratching over where the fuel pump goes so am about to consult the manual! My dad reckons up front somehwhere, i reckon in the boot near the tank.... i ve had J cars before.... my dad was mechanically trained with Austins, mini's etc... we'll see what the manual suggests!

This RX is coming along really nice! Like what you've done so far Thanks mate, its a been a year to get this far ( partly budget constraints and partly because I ve not had an Rx4 before and wasn't aware quite how in complete it was!!) but i m at the stage of really wanting to get the old girl running now... ;D

It'll be near the tank. My 3 had it under the floor. I think 2's have then behind a panel in the boot. not sure about 4's but at the rear somewhere.

My fuel pump is on the car roof right now lol... but it was never fitted when i got the car anyway so i was totally in the dark! RX4 manual suggests the boot under passenger side somewhere but i can't see how the assembly i have could possibly fit!
That said it may not even be the right fuel pump for the car!! I think i am going to go for a Carter fuel pump. I ve been chatting to a guy here with a RX4 sedan running bridgeport motor and he reckons the standard fuel pump won't cope further up the rev range on a bridgy.

Yep thats correct. Its not pressure you need though. Its flow- lots of it. Your weber will only need 4-5 psi, I think, but it will drink copius amounts when going hard and you want the pump to keep up with it. I have a Carter pump. I cant remember exactly which one though but it looks like this.. www.diesel-fuels.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=P0010002 (just an example of the general look) I did many hours research and although more expensive they have been proven not to give up like many others. I don't want to risk running lean on boost from a pump that cant keep up or has a hissy fit when i need it most. Also fit big fuel lines. I went 5/16 copper pipe but may well go to bigger 3/8. I'll ditch my copper pipe, go rubber, as the Carter pumps are quite noisey and the copper pipe reverberates the sound.

a stubby holder around a carter apparently works wonders...
around 4-4.5 psi is the most for a weber, no more than 5 at the maximum.

I think thats the one I have- I am running mine through a adjustable Malpassi regulator as my SU carb will only take 3.5 psi before the little float chamber needle gets overpowered.
Again I did research and was recommended Malpassi regs as the more reliable option.
Hmmm- stubblie cooler- great idea.

Didn't even know if this fuel pump was for my car as it didn't come fitted and couldn't find a place on the underside where it should mount in this housing so.... Decided a decent replacement was the way forward! And just in case its noisy

Working out my carby jet sizes too...
I ve been recommended by Rotary Shack to use the following:
65f9 idle jets 225 main fuel jet 185 air bleed f11 emulsion tubes 0 bypass acell pump jet 38 or 40mm venturies
This is based on a 45 Dcoe attached to a 12a bridgy...
If anyone has any feedback on this it would be helpful, as i ve not rejetted a Weber before!

good to see you getting on with this. very cool car. i'd use whatever jets are in the carb and get it to a rolling road place asap and let them set it up properly. oh and fit a nice big airfilter

Cheers mate, its getting there! ( at last!) I was going to try and get it running with the current carby jets ( its been jetted for a 13B Extended Port), i ve also got a reasonable size ramflo filter i ll probably adapt to fit at some point too!
Downloaded a 45 DCOE diagram today with exploded views, and I think i ll take a look at stripping the carb down over the easter break to see what i m working with. Hopefully alot of whats already in there is similar to the specs above!!

Good luck with the carb mate. Be careful when removing the top cover that you don't damage the float spindle. Some idiots do (me)
Like the look of the car and the attention to detail going on. Very nice.

Very nice. Thanks for the tip with the carb top I ll be extra careful... could do with out that! Been busy today plumbing in 4 meters of 3/8 fuel line which is all nicely clipped up under the car. Mounted my fuel pump too:

bit ott for a road car imo. the idea is the fuel pump is only running when the engine has oil pressure. ie when it's running. there's plenty of factory cars that didn't have a cut out like that, thou anything injection or 90's onward will. up to you really? have you got a fuel pressure regulator before the carb? a nice one of them with, maybe a built in filter would be money better spent. again only imo.
