looking like its coming along nicely!
Can I make a suggestion that the "stripes" on the bonnet look really cool and they should be continued onto the roof for the final paint job :-) Also, that rad scoop will make the bonnet vent work better (when / if you decide to do that from the earlier post) because you'll have more air coming through from the front :-)
Sounds like fun with the brakes, where did the knackered master cylinder come from originally?
I did wonder if the doors would be a bit flimsy, are you going to put some stiffening ribs back in or just leave them as they are? They certainly look lightweight and tidy as they are mind!
Looks like you'll make the Gathering without too much drama, as long as the engine co-operates once you've wired it up!!

Cheers mate. And don't know about not too much drama - had a couple of 15 hours days over the last few! Doors are a lot less flimsy now the windows are riveted in.
Anyway been far too busy to take photos and do updates. But a short one, I've just got an MOT. RRG here we come!

Good advice that, lets just say this thing feels a hell of a lot more alive than the Escort did. Probably not helped by muxh setup work being needed!
Needless to say I'm going to do my upmost to take it easy this time!
Now to just get myself to rhe front of the hillclimb queue ;D

I didn't recognise this at all with the new paint... I did like the rubbed down bad red paint, but that's probably just me!

Looks good to me! You made it there and back = mission successful in my opinion!!
Having fun in the car is most important, so if you enjoyed driving it before it's finished that is a good sign!!

Heya
Was GREAT to have a look round both this & Lauren's Capri over the weekend, especially to see them in person after watching the threads on here
Also this sounded GREAT going up the hill (watched from by the start line)
I think it'd have gotten the attention regardless due to the Amazing amount of skill thats gone into it (and Laurens MK2)
Am sorry I didn't get chance to say 'hi' in person

Cheers guys. Shame didn't get to say hi Violet - the gathering is getting so big now it getting hard to play on track, see all the cars and talk to people! Such hardship, lol. Just have to camp both nights next year

Yep, the car looked great imo, as soon as I saw it from the back, I had a suspicion it would have single headlamps at the front,

Your car looked epic...one of my favourite of the gathering! Cheers bud, certainly seems to have gone down well, makes me wonder if I should be bothering building it properly next year!

Although it looks ace as it is, it will be even better "finished" of there is such a point in the evolution of a car.

I hope its ok to take over your thread with a few pics. But I use 10" long springs on my mk1 Escort coilover strut and had to go a helper spring too. I think it was a 2" long one, you could get 4" as well. Think I got them from Demon Tweeks over there in the UK. They compress to about here when not loaded up. And when in the car they just squash flat. The plastic separators aren't real flash, one has broken already. With the rings adjusted like this... ...the front sits like this. Sorry for all the pics, but thought it might help you out. Let me know and I can remove the pics if you don't want them in your build thread

That is exactly the sort of info I was after Might have to invest in some then as it'd be nice if the springs didn't drop out when the car is jacked up...

I have also used helper springs. I trimmed the plastic collar that locates the helper spring, so it doesn't get crushed. And I also put the helper springs below the main springs, so they can't wobble about. I don't know if it matters much though.
