I started with the best of intentions.. Replace the B230e and it’s awful LPG system with some sort of economical-ish diesel to smoke about on a wave of torque. What enthusiasm fails to take into consideration is that varying quantities of time, money, and skill are needed for this sort of thing. I have found myself severely lacking time and money due to the importance of real life (711200 Junior is due in Feb ;D), and that the project is on the outermost edge of my skillset.
Of course, you never admit these things to yourself until you’ve ploughed on well past any sort of point of return so what we’re left with is fairly modified a Volvo 240 GL without its running gear but with some quite useful and cool bits. Logically, an engine and gearbox from another 240 would bring it to life, but someone with the above attributes that I’m missing could easily seize the opportunity to put something cool in it.
It’s an ’88 GL but the trim level doesn’t really have much relevance when there’s no trim and no engine left.. The body has been painted satin brown with military vehicle paint, and isn’t perfect, but looks cool. The rear arches have been flared but (sorry Joe..) they aren’t brilliant. More interestingly, It’s been converted to an early round headlamp front end and early ‘commando’ bumpers. The bumpers are without the rubber trim and there rear has been moved in closer to the body . All trim holes have been welded up.
The interior is fairly tidy, though lacking door cards. It has 264gle seats. They’re pretty much the same as 240 GLT ones, but without the ‘buttons’. I think there’s one small split/tear on the driver’s door. There are no doorcards at present because the old ones were manky and got chucked
At the moment, my train of thought is sell the seats, virgos and early panels. Frag the rest. But before I go down that route, seats, wheels and early bits is easily a couple hundred quid before I frag the rest. So there’s the justification for pricing..
Get the thing out of my sight.

This, unfortunately, is how it looks now
