well, this week went quick. and I spent most of it waiting for ebay knobbers to deliver the correct items I had ordered.
I managed to get the banjo bolt needed for the clutch setup on the second go, when 3/8unf was supplied, rather than the m10 one that was sent the first time. but seeing as the new clutch slave aint here yet, theres sod all else I can do on the clutch setup.
so, I had a look at the brakes instead seeing as the pedal assembly was all done. I checked over the front calipers, one out of the 4 pistons was a bit sticky, so I popped it out with some air pressure, cleaned it out, polished the piston and reassembled it all. the balance pipe was also kinked so I remade it-
the calipers are a really cool design, a large steel caliper carrier that has two seperate slot-in aluminium calipers. I didnt bother with further cleaning and painting cos I don't really have time if I'm going to get it finished on schedule, and also I don't plan on keeping these brakes for ages anyway.
then, I took apart the front escort hubs to clean out the bearings and inspect them. I degreased everything and its all come up spanking, but the grease seals had been leaking so I bought some more. the right ones turned up second time......
I don't know if I put pics up before, but heres the bearing adapters I made a while ago.
its this slightly different coloured bit here, quite hard to see-
the thinner bit is to space the bearing, the fatter tophat bit is for the seal to run on.
annnd it not back together cos of the delay getting the seals.
the bits that have arrived are some rear brake pads, a fuel pump fitting kit, and a selection of silicon hoses to do the plumbing- after ording from someone who wasnt useless and had them in stock. so maybe next week ile get that lot together!
