Why Delrin?? Great lathe work mind loving this build..!! Thanks for the update.. Hi, Delrin is great as a non metallic solid bushing, which is durable but slightly forgiving. It's also nice to work with and less time consuming to machine. I'm glad you appreciate the updates - I do wonder sometimes. It's bookmarked for me - watching and learning - be interested how harsh you find those mounts you have manufactured

The main purpose is to remove the 'slop' from the original mounts so if they do that and the ride is harsh it's s worthy sacrifice. For what have planned for the rest of the car I might not be that easy to define what's harsh and what isn't lol!

I was thinking that too - been bookmarked from day one by the way - should have made that clear - anything Opel/Vauxhall I'll always follow cos of crossover

I follow loads of build threads mostly because I love the different ways folkes attack simelar issues,
I once read through a Canadian lad building a vr6 turbo 4motion and he machined solid alloy bushes others simply welded a plate over and bolted direct,Then of course you get people experimenting with polyurathane and diferent shore plastics of various origin,
When I saw the blank Delrin at first I thought it was nylon and reminded myself of the disaterous engine mounts I made for my Carlton GSi out of nylon first then PTFE........

I really love the delrin, I believe it was first used in racing bushing when a full metal bush was against regulations.
I would describe it as feeling like not to many steps away from the feel of old bakelite just not as brittle.

i tend to find i reply to threads with questions or advice (read as stuff which i think is true). Then there are these other threads which i have bookmarked (like yours) which have reached halcyon level, this is basically where the person looks so proficient at what they are doing its almost intimidating to reply with stuff other than superlatives, which then comes across as whimsical of throwaway like "great work" "incredible" etc. thats my excuse anyway, but i think that's a compliment of sufficient gravitas ?

Thanks again guys, sorry if that sounded needy haha! Anyway I found a little time tonight to have a play with the actual fitment of the big rear bush that I finished Fitted the Delrin section - nice snug fit Already looks much cooler than the other side Then slipped the centre in Annoyingly the two didn't come together as snugly as I would have liked around the tapered section, as you can see below the Aluminium inner isn't all the way through the Delrin as much as it should be So I removed the Delrin section took 50thou off the back of the lip that meets the subframe and bingo snug as a bug
