hey everybody! after the kadett was "finished" was a bit bored (besides the complete overhaul of our house/garage) so bought something new/old yesterday! it's a 1987 vw transporter with the 1.6td engine so not to slow plans are using it for now as a work bus during the renovation of our house and give it a complete renovation after next summer during the winter when the house is finished.. anywho, there is some short term work to do! didn't pass MOT because of the broken exhaust and the excessive oil leek...

I nearly bought one of these years ago... but got gazzumped by someone else offering more money.
Anyway, I am sure you will find it an immensely usefull tool.
Even the Taunus Transit has been usefull, and moved most of my garage contents here when we moved.

thx grizz! will send the license plates next week btw finally got some work done on the t3: cleaned the van this more with high pressure machine thingy, including the engine, what a difference... engine before new filters and oil engine now (100times better...) then let the old oil out. only 1,75l left!! there should be 4,5l in so was a pretty urgent service... welded the exhaust mounting (just a bit on the right, the big welds on the left have been done by someone else before in the past) then cracked on with the body work.. A plate was welded over the B-pilar next in line when that's finished is the cabine... on the underside there's also a plate welded in, no kit or paint applied so will be a similar story as the B pilar... any idea what this is for? and the van in the garage, only 1 cm between roof of the car and garage when I ride it inside so a close fit!

Looks like it's up under the wheel tub. The washer bottle is bloody massive, too. And has less pipes. Anyway, I'm definitely going to follow this because I've got an identical van (But without a bulkhead to smash out!) I wish mine was a diesel, though. I've got a 2.1 wbx boat anchor. Super smooth, but also super slow and super thirsty. Good for absolutely nothing! If it was a diesel, I'd have 99% of the stuff there to take a golf engine!

washer bottle will be under driver's left heel on a LHD, that bottle looks to be the tank breather.
dunno what's wrong with your 2.1 Cobblers but i've never exactly hung around when in my 2.1 bus, thirsty yes but never that slow, used to run a 1.6NA, now that was a bloody boat anchor ! 60mph, downhill was top speed.

But, a 2,1 usually isn't slow , it has a lot of torque and is good to use if everything is well ...

new parts! New rear wheel arch en the piece between arch and sliding door: Made a new plate to weld in the B-pilar welded in place: has to be ground down and cut on the left side of course but had to go home...

cut the arch-door panel at the arch lip, they're a curse word fit here and you'll struggle to bend it and not damage the radius, fit the panel then fab a return inside the arch, it'll look much better and easier too.

But still a long way to go... hey, nothin wrong with orange! Heres mine, picked it up last year off ebay for 600 quid, needed two tiny patches of welding and upper wishbone rubbers for the mot,i love it to bits, have been told that the panel vans are becoming quite sought after so try to avoid putting windows in it ;D All ive done is boarded it out, insulated it,full width rocknrolla bed and 240v hookup, and had it sanded back and resprayed as the original paint was faded to curse word

I already have a yellow/orange Kadett so that's why it won't be in orange, nothing wrong with it of course, love it myself! and actually I was thinking about putting windows in it, not figured it out yet... looks good! And Guz, that's my plan actually Got home from work today and dove straight into my garage first made 2 of these handy welding things like this cleaned the rest of the original arch upper piece of metal drawn and cut out (made a cardboard version first) folded and adjusted where needed welded on the inside same treatment for the lower piece made the bends folded and welded ground down and welded it back in since it was 11:30 PM already and didn't want to disturb the neighbours just put some zinc coating on it, will ground down tomorrow took me about 6hours but well chuffed with the result!

ground down the welds this morning applied DEBRASEL in the weld while that was drying attacked the front floor cut this out, original rotten floor with a plate welded underneath started reconstructing welded en zinc primed cleaned the garage since that was very necessary...

|

and finished welding the floor today
