triumph 1500cc, don't need carbs, would consider something else if it fits easily into a herald engine bay without any major mods and fits my current drive shaft and gear box, although if you have a gear box also.....
needs to be running well, be in good condition and reliable, no leaks, knocks, or burn too much oil
willing to collect in person if within 40ish miles of coventry

AFAIK the smallest Slant 4 is 1850cc in the Triumph range.
Is this for the Herald or do you have another project in mind?

Yeah, the smallest Triumph slant is the 1850. I think you mean Triumph straight 4. Available in a variety of sizes upto 1500cc. I'm assuming from this that your lump is a bit dead (I did look at the thread and video you posted, but had no more advice than that given) I'm going to a Triumph meet (joint Dolly Club, Sports Six Club and Club Triumph) on Tuesday, so will ask for you if anyone has a spare lump kicking about, or if anyone knows of any.

What about a 1300 with a Weber 40 and a Kent fast road cam? If your after slants, havn't had one for years I'm afraid

How much power does that have mightmite? Don't really want less power than the current 1500 thats just gone caput

I asked and no one seemed to have a running one spare. Have got a phone number for a guy that has one, I'm unsure of it's condition however, plus, it's down in Essex. Too far? He's only after £50 for it anyway. I can PM you his details anyway if you want. Will keep an eye out.

yeah pm his details, if its running with good compression, no oil leeks, no smoke etc. I'd be willing to go and fetch it over easter maybe.

FWIW the 1300s are meant to be near enough as powerful as the 1500s but they are a much revvier engine.

Hi Mate
I have a Spitfire 1500 engine complete with carbs. Bought it a couple of years ago out of one of the big breakers in Gloucester and they had it running to check before pulling it from the car. I know they fill the bores with oil too before selling so should be OK still. It's in my lockup in Herefordshire so if you're interested I'll give it a check over next time I'm over (in the week). I paid £250 but you can have for £200 without the carbs. I was going to put it in my Herald (when I get round to doing anything with it) but tbh the 1200 in that is so sweet it'd be a shame not to use it and keep the car original.
