So here we have 1984 US spec Honda Civic
A roll cage
and
some shiny Enkei 2pc splits rim wheels
in 15x7j and 15x8J on the back
Wrapped in 205's - and 225's
A set of
coil-overs,
And stock paint
Oh yes
and it is
Rear driven.
with a mid-mounted 2.5ltr V6
borrowed from an '86
Honda Legend
how could I forget.
With a big mid mounted V6 and small wheel base this build
could easily be mistaken for a Group B Rally car.
Honda's T16 205 or Metro 6R4 counter part perhaps
But no the paint job is too OEM for that.
It must be the Japanese manufacturers answer to Ford USA's Shogun Fiesta, or Europe's Renault R5 Turbo.
Still no.
This monstrosity was, in the late 80's. The work of one man, in his garage
Exterior wise the biggest give away to the heart of this car are those bulbous wings.
The front wings being widened "" and the rear a massive 4.5"!
all fabricated from 2.2g Steel right down to the vents.
yep!, no fibre glass here.
In fact
the only fibre glass on the whole car
is in the widened stock rear bumper.
which is some what
a necessity to stream line
and further enhance
the width of the car.
The stock 4cyl engine has been removed
and replaced
with a 14gal fuel tank
and a Corvette radiator
to keep that mid mounted V6 cool
The Corvette brand also lends
vented discs and 5 lug hubs to the build
and a Datsun 240z it's Master cylinder
providing a much needed increase in stopping power.
The rear torsion bar was chopped out
and replaced with bespoke
independent rear suspension
utilising 2" short Shocks
once again from the Datsun 240z
A Roll cage and tubular frame
were constructed within the shell
to mount the Acura V6 engine,
gearbox and shafts.
The Acura V6 was kept almost stock
with the exceptions being
a 240z distributor,
Porsche derived Bosche fuel injection
and VW sourced steel braided fuel lines
The OEM style of the build works from the inside out
with the only interior additions being
2 Acura Integra front seat
and 7 Extra gauges monitoring that twin banked engine.
Hidden beneath the insulated carpeted false floor engulfing
the space where the rear seats previous lived.
I think my favourite part of the build
is the incredibly high level of finish
with massive attention to detail
giving a brilliantly OEM
look to the car.
Not only is it finished in a timeless,
very period 2-tone grey.
It is stock looking
right down to the rub strips
running over the wider body. ;D
