I'll have either of these two please. Looks like the fat one's a GMC, the near one's definitely a Diamond T. Orsums.

As long as there are some usable tracks somewhere then I'll have the tank (my brother has a Class 1 HGV to move it as well as a H licence :-) )

no test required for a tank you get H licence when you pass your test, so long as you are over 21 tracked vehicles are covered!!! Now just need to let the shrubs graw a little higher in the front garden to hide it from the wife?

I saw this and immidiatly thought this This has me thinking that I read somewhere that the trucks used in the film were modified GMC items so wonder if this is a film vehicle scrap yard ? indianajones.wikia.com/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_LG3000Near to me at a place called "Les Oakes" at Cheadle, Staffs, they had a Sherman tank from a film. It was actually a LWB Land Rover with a timber and fibreglass body. PTO drove a hydraulic pump that powered a motor for the tracks but it rode on the LR wheels. Paul H

It all belongs to the guy who organises the war and peace show I went to look at an old golf that belonged the farmer who ownes the yard and we just turned up and had a wander around the only people about were the foreign farm workers who live in caravans there. Rumour has it he has to clear the site because the farmer wants he yard back.

According to this ( www.imcdb.org/vehicle_772-Made-for-Movie-Mercedes-Benz-LG3000.html) the Indy film truck was indeed a mockup but there are comments at the bottom suggesting that the film truck was at one point owned by the guy who runs the War and Peace show before he sold it to the US theme park it's in now. Could be that this ^ is what the film truck was supposed to be and the boy acquired a real one to make up for the loss of the film truck? Or any one of a million other scenarios...

I'm not convinced it is a Merc myself, 'tho I wouldn't like to say what it is. Prepared to be corrected though.
Few £££'s worth there, especially the tracked armour.
Diamond T is a 969.

Next time you are in the yard check out the Mercedes LG3000 front axle. Genuine are 6 x4 so the front axle is undriven whereas the GMC replicas are 6x6 with a driven front axle. Looking on Google hits for a LG3000 the holes in front wheel and number of nuts on a genuine Merc (8 nuts / 1 holes) are different to a GMC (6 nuts and 6 holes) and this looks like a GMC wheel / axle. Rad different - genuine has filler on top. I don't even think it's a film prop as they were a little more accurate replicas re. windscreen and rad areas. Genuine LG3000 - Paul H
