Right firstly an apology, Sorry it's taken me so long to start this thread! I've been thinking for ages now that a NW meet for RR'ers would be brill and I'm afraid I've so far fallen into the "I-wish-someone-would-organise-one" category. So I've finally (thanks to some nudges from guys in a thread about getting a lock up round here) decided to pull my finger out and put the feelers out. So how about it guys? I know there are a lot of RR'ers round these parts and the ones I've met so far have all been nice guys. The evenings are drawing longer, there are many lovely country pubs round here, so let's start something. Meets are great not only for a night out, but will help with finding people for advice or help on projects, spares etc... even a few extra pairs of hands for work weekends and 'play days'. Just see what Bruce and the Area 52 guys can achieve with a bit of community atmosphere and some genuine like-minded buddies. (not forgetting the tons of hard work!) There are also some cool shows in the NW; Tatton park etc... if we all actually knew each other these could be RR days out (everybody loves a convoy! ;D) How about Weds nights, on either the 2nd or 4th weds of the month. There's a pub called the Bassett Hound on the Wirral which is not far off the motorway (J3 M56) it's got a reasonable car park. If anyone knows anywhere suitable please do shout up. This could be, as they say, the start of something beautiful! Once times and a few locations are decided I'm happy make the relevant inquiries if folks would commit to turning up. Hope to make your acquaintanceship soon! James

Well done Sir!
I'd be interested - do you mean J3 M56? (That's near Manchester) Or J3 M53?
Wed. evening is as good as it gets for me - I sail Tues & Thurs, work some Weds but can usually get away for 8.30pm. Time at least for a pint.
But - how about a Sunday afternoon at Mouldsworth Motor Museum as well? Jim Peacock would welcome anyone with an interest in old cars and we might be able to ask him to give a talk about some of the stuff he's got there.

I'd probably make the trip along the A55 for this (sometimes, anyway), as there's nothing any nearer to me

According to Mouldsworth's website they are available for club visits, including tours, by arrangement. The only times the specifically exclude from this are....... weds and sundays! So it look like we'll have to come up with another time if folks would like to go there. Are we thinking this as a regular meeting place or a one off? My thoughts are it's probably not best as a monthly/ quarterly meeting place, but more of an annual trip type affair. I'll give the guy a call this week and get more details.

Hiya Cavman, I'd be up for this , can't Believe your initial suggestion, The Bassett is at the bottom of my road LOL I'd quite happily meet there LOL.... If everyone else is happy with the Location .LOL Or The "Tudor Rose" (with large carpark) may be another option, Which is on the Chester high road , (Chester to hoylake road). Close to the motorway network & a55? Just a thought ? .... Cheers

I think the thing re. Mouldsworth is not that you can't go Wed & Sundays, but rather than this is when they are open anyway. I've been on Sunday afternoons and there's been club meets there.
But it's worth just going along anyway, having a look round, then going on to a local pub for a drink.
Paul.

Hey guys, right I've just spoken to James at Mouldsworth, and what a thoroughly nice chap he is too! He would be more than happy to host us sometime at the museum which sounds like a retro petrol heads dream place! We'd get access to some special exhiits that he saves for groups as well as the whole museum, which is not just cars. James is an artist rather than an engineer and collects auto memorabilia as well as the cars themselves and is talk is a potted history of the lighter and more obscure side of collectables, he claims it entertains the 'other-halves' as much as the petrol heads! There's a carpark/ field for us to mull around each others cars and hang about a bit afterwards, there's also a great pub, The Goshawk, nearby for suitable refreshment.
In terms of dates, it seems most weds are good for James, and he also gave me a list of saturdays and sundays that are currently free too. I know we're coming into show and holiday season so pinning a group of us down might be hard, James requires at least 10 attendees for it to be worth his while, but that shouldn't be too hard. June is basically out, I'll create a poll for the rest of the dates. I'm pretty sure weekends in July will be a no go for most of you as it is for me but weds could deffo work. It's £5 a head which to me seems really good value! So first step is nail down a date that 10 or more of us can make. you can pick 2 options on the poll to allow some flexibility.

Mouldsworth is an ace museum. Not the biggest place in the world (call that an understatement) but really worth a visit and there's loads of nice scenery nearby. Somewhere either where the M53 becomes the A55 (A56 Chester/Helsby turn off), Chester Services (near Helsby/Elton/Stanlow) or on the A51 near Chester would possibly be good places to meet as the museum is withing easy reach of all those.

This wouldn't be far for me. I'm at J7 of the M56. I can't do weekends because of work though.
