Values of these seem to be all over the place! I've got a 1986 Mk 2 Golf GTi (8v) 3-door in red. 145k on the clock with pretty much fully documented service history and all the ‘bits’ done in the last couple of hundred miles – discs, pads, cambelt, road springs, radiator, sump etc. It's a completely standard 7-slat grill model, with the LHD wiper configuration and the wing mirrors on the doors (so one of the earlier ones I understand?)
It has a sunroof but…
No ABS
No PAS
No electric windows
No central locking (you get the idea...!)
Does have the computer though!
It’s taxed and tested, are these worth anything? Mechanically it’s pretty much spot on but cosmetics could do with some love with a few spots of rust in the usual places and grotty tear-drop alloys.
Have a hankering for some 944 action so not sure whether to keep fettling the Golf or move it on, hard to gauge how much it's worth when people offering them anywhere from £800 to £3,500! Anyone have an idea of what it might realistically be worth?
