they're from Ali Express. i have the app on my phone. price for the pair inc post and taxes was under a fiver.
they come with an allen key too that amazingly didn't round off straight away. there are links too between the central two nuts for putting the main pos and earth wires under

so another ali express bargain eventually turned up. had been waiting so long id forgotten id even ordered it.....
the gold heat reflective tape stuff arrived so a walk to the garage was in order. its actually not bad to use and is bloody sticky. goes on really well. as for the heat reflective properties? i have no idea at all, but i could almost feel the extra horsepower dripping out of my hands as i peeled it off the reel. one thing i do know is that i ran out, so ive had to order some more to finish the underside of the bonnet and the rest of the bulkhead near the turbo. the gold tape was popular in the engine bays at tunerfest so hopefully it will make some difference.if nothing else, the gold looks a damn site nicer than the silver in the engine bay

That golden heat reflective tape is looking good, hopefulle it also does what it says on the tin :-)
Will there be a startup in the near future? It can't be much more that needs to be done for sure.

Gess, once I've sorted the engine bay I'll probably be dropping the tank off so I can seal it. The tow bars gone so it shouldn't be a big job.it seems there's no fuel in the tank now anyway so to sort the internal rust issue I want to get some tank sealant into it. The turbo timer arrived today but having looked at the instructions I've stepped back..... Thankfully mk2
cossie has offerred to fit it ( it's his sort of thing) so I'll leave it to him..... At least it will be done properly. Then it's just tidying up the paintwork scratches where I've been working on the car. I would like to fit a harness bar across the rear of the car (also suggested by mk2cossie) which will be fitted under the rear arch roll cage mounts and run across the width of the car. Been busy doing stuff on my sons 19 year old mini so not had much time to play cars. Also picked up an ancient seagull boat engine a few weeks back thats been eating up my time. Hadn't run since before 1970.....I've just got it running😁

Do ypu have any kind of ducting to get cold-ish air to the filters or do you rely on air getting past the headlights and radiator?

gess,not yet . i was messing around yesterday trying to work out the best shape to make up a heat shield.there are holes or press outs up the sides of the radiator cowling. i may move the washer bottle and run some ducting into that . or i could run ducting from the bulkhead as my bonnets raised at the rear.i could even add a small 12v fan just to help draw fresher air into the air filter area.really not decided yet.ill come up with something eventually

Third roll of heat reflective tape arrived and a trip to the garage was in order. All
Sorted now. Been working on the 1968 seagull engine that was being thrown out too. I was my grandads, then my mums..... It was heading for the skip so I dragged it home. Already got it running so now tidying it up before fitting it onto our untested intex inflatable 2 man dinghy
As for the engine bay, if there was any more gold in there, America would have a military base next to my garage.

Nice job on the Seagull engine. It really cleaned up well. We used to have an old outboard engine on a boat we had, it was a Crescent from around the 60s, white and orange, with the throttle located close to power outlets on the engine. It would give you a little buzz if you didn't watch your fingers when throttling.

I guess it tokk a fair bit of time to polish the stems.

to be fair, the chrome was in reasonable condition. the flywheel had lost its magnetism and it couldnt generate a spark which stumped me for a while . you need to run a drill on the flywheel for around 10 minutes to re energise it ,so that was actually a free repair. the flyheel is now painted in gold caliper paint as we had some left over from my sons mini. its only a 3 bhp motor so should be fine on our small inflatable. i've filmed ( like i always do) the resto from start up until now too. fresh fuel and a general clean up and the thing started up first pull. you really cant beat old british made stuff. its the most simple thing ever.
most parts are now painted or cleaned so its looking much smarter than it did. our thottle on this is a thumb controlled one on the steering stick thing.its a bit smokey but thats where i was re energising the wheel with the drill. i took the spark plug out and was putting oil into the cylinder to prevent and damage

After butchering the last transfer I ordered another and also repainted the tank too. Turns out, the transfer comes with an idiots fitting guide.... That this idiot didn't spot before. Anyway, only a few bits left to sort on this now it should get some beach action soon.another interim project out the way. I was talking to my late grandads wife today and she was so chuffed I'd saved it, kinda made it more special. So until my new boost controller arrives...... Here's today's tinkering. Will laquer it tomorrow

Had to repair my daughters vandalised wing mirror so while in a car frame of mind I dropped into Halfords and bagged some paint and laquer. I've started repairing the damaged arch that I caused while trying to shoe horn the cage in. I need laquer for the boat motor too so I kinda killed two with one stone. My son didn't approve of the boost controller which strangely hasn't arrived yet.... So he bought me a different type. Looks nice but now I need to make a bracket to fit it into. Gave me the opportunity to try the digital micrometer tho

Slipped the boost controller in earlier as I was in the garage anyway. My mate "porno Paul" isn't convinced it's a good idea but it's just a straight swap for the the one i broke meddling.....

Was at work today and got emailed by the NHS. Covid jobbie so I had to come home and stay indoors for 10 days.can't go out so am limited to using stuff I already have. First job on the list was my sons car. Interior swap was already started, old interior now sold on amd leather is in
Had to do some minor repairs but it's all good now. The roof lining is now indoors and we are redoing it seeing as it was sagging really badly.going for a black perforated style now in suedette.

Day 2......nice early start today in the garage. Needs another coat but seem OK for now.

Finished my sons roof lining and thats all back in the car.to be fair, it came out better than expected. Time to get back onto the mk2 amd the rat now

Took the tools out to the garage and remembered the bust ash tray lid.... So it was dragged back indoors for some tlc. I superglued one end into its recess and glued the other end into place. Once it was stuck...... I heated up a tiny screwdriver on the cooker and heated up the glue and Ash tray lid so they bonded good. Then the glue gun was called into play. Once done I simply trimmed the extra material back with a Stanley knife blade. Job done 😎
Not the most exciting update but its another job taken off the to do list.
