Have you tried the 'Rice' method ? ie. cover the ecu with rice in a sealed plastic bag and leave a couple of days ... Rice is a desiccant and will draw out the moisture bit of a last ditch hope, but, a packet of rice is cheaper than a replacement ecu ...

I was toying with that but i took the ecu out the car, dabbed it with kitchen roll and used a hair dryer at a distance as i wasnt sure f anything was sensitive to heat. it is currently sat on a book case in the warm and is also out of the plastic case ie just the pcb

Finally got the car back. All is well except for Xmas....... Thanks to the wallet raping bill that's now cancelled so a second job will be required😕...... Not the first Xmas I've had to do that. The radio doesn't work either so that's another phone call tomorrow to see if its a fuse or something. Fitted the freshly painted wing mirror controller though and that's fine. The tinted wind deflector isnt as good though so thats being "untinted" and will be redone later.... A forum user on a other car site said pull the fuse...... The real world said "I ain't got a scooby which one to pull".......

Thanks westbay, I had a look but they are for the 986.this one is the first 987 sadly. New roll of £4 tint arrived. Lesson learned last time. Don't peel the bloody top clear layer off until its on properly. Last time I peel off one side, applied it and then peeled the backing off to squeegee the residue out. That scored and marked the red film 😩. Thankfully it's really cheap and this time I did it properly...... Which for me makes a massive change. My tool case contains a tube of silicon, a long screwdriver, some side cutters and a hammer..... Oh and a second tube of silicon incase the first lot has gone off. Right now, I feel I'm almost qualified as a mechanic... 😂

Had an abysmal day to say the least and still sulking about the ecu bill that's gonna take till after Xmas to pay off.... . Eventually gets home and my sons holding out the momo handbrake lever he bought for his mini. Its from Ali express so it's def a 100% real momo unit.... 🙄😂🤣😂 Anyway, I sent him out in the rain to strip his old one out. 5 mins later and he's there with the gaitor in his hand😯 anyway, 20mins work with the plastic welding gun I got off ebay for 20 quid and some spray adhesive later..... And the handbrake handle is swapped over and the gaitor is all suedetted out and matches the gear shifter one. My work here is done. There's a sew on leather steering wheel cover coming apparently, I won't be doing that, that is not a me kinda job.... Started doing one on my capri 30 yeas ago.... And quit after an hour. And I don't often recommend stuff as a rule, but my son got this from the local hardware shop. It's without a doubt the best spray adhesive I've ever used. Dries while you watch and doesn't just soak through the material like most do. I'll be getting an arsenal of cans when we do the rat rods interior.it's the same can that we did the roof lining with

So just when the summer ends and I thinks "garage time"I get to rip out and replace an old damp shower room which meant spending a week in a 1m x 2m room with a tile cutter, hammer, chisels and tile off cuts😞 this was purely because the builders quote was just a joke to be honest. Thankfully the local plumbers shop were absolutely awsome with info. Then my wife's charity takes on a farm for folk with special educational needs...... So I've been working there on weekends too, meant to be refelting one of the classrooms roofs today and and dragging old equipment around. But yesterday I did it, I took the split pin packet off the microwave where they've sat for longer than I can recall and fitted them. One on the old seagull motors prop, which means that is 100% finished and also one on the granada. I had to swap the dif bolts when I fitted the tow bar..... But that's been sold now so the old bolt went back in.... And finally that's done too. Looking at cleaning the spax springs soon too, splashes of underseal is making them look a bit rubbish In another box of granada stuff I found a ghia badge (free to anyone who wants it) and the 2 bonnet steady things for the wings. Will use em as templates to make up a new pair and get them off to Mr cossie.

Nope.... No need to mention someone emptying an engine bay and losing a 10mm socket under the engine just to change a headlight bulb ..... Instead of just undoing 2 bolts🥵

Thank god for that, pick out two rubber grommets from the boot lid and drill two holes. Job done!! Picked up some more Highland green from Halfords so can get back onto the granada again now....

My wife's business has taken on a farm so car time has been put massively put on hold.... But while looking at old photos on my phone I realised I can't use my tow eye. Now in 30 years I've never used it except for attaching the car cover on back in 2008.....but as seems to be the way, if you need it, Ali express will have one.... And it did😮 I ordered me one in black so it shouldn't really notice.

How are you planning on attaching this new tow hook to the car? I suppose the spare wheel well will not be used, but where can yoy put it and not risk damaging the car if it has to be used?
