Back working on the "Snotrod"

Realised the tractor needs check chains so looked in ebay..... 😮££££££££££
So I bought me some shackles and shortened the chains that were hanging off the tractor when I picked it up. Not very patient so I used a hacksaw and then the anvil..... And biggest club hammer I could find.
Next we're the mounting brackets. I used the remains of an old footpump I have laying around. A quick bit of shaping, some sanding and a topcoat of vw black. I've ordered a link pin today so hoping that'll be fine. If it is I'll get another one for the other side

The new tractor arrived a couple of weeks ago so I've been very distracted 🙄. Spent all Sunday dragging the farm trailer around the fields with visitors on.Stilllearning what all the controls do ( it didn't come with a manual) and have worked out 80% of them now. Even started showing the farm staff how to use it.
The carbs being repaired today for the 1952 massey so hopefully I will have that all back together soon too.
Got home from work yesterday to find the postman had dropped off something I'd bought a while back and completely forgotten about.
It's still sealed. No idea if the smell will be right, but having seen how much these can go for on ebay, it was very cheap and worth a shot

Had a quick trip to the garage....added the fabric tape to the harness ends to stop them moving sideways, half heartedly wiped the engine bay

Complete front end tin work for the massey arrived and is now ready to be filled and prepped for pain

Sadly we lost our baby Emu....... So decided to make a little memorial for the dude.
No 10mm sockets were harmed!!

The rear arms weren't right and it was bugging me. A bit of research showed that the metal joint ball things were missing. 10 quid later and it's all good. Then there was the emu issue. We can't have a single emu... so 450 miles later today and a companion has been collected.
Fair play to the farms manager Liz, after we tried putting Buddy in a transport box we realised he'd hurt himself. She had him on her her lap for 4 hours for the return trip.

Had a few days away after 3 years of no break only to see my sons car has has bled to death outside the house. Fair play to bmw and also euro car parts, the car is easily stripped to gain access the rad and euro parts didn't wallet rob us either. Was a pain to get the air out the system though despite it having the little bleed screw in the top hose. Ended up using the water bottle that tops up the steam iron. Wifey wasnt impressed 🙄fitted the silly-con intake pipe too while the car was in bits....... That's a bolt on 30 bhp right there🤣😅😂🤣

Did some more to the metal emu today after eventually getting home from work. Its now got legs!! The wings/side panels are off a 1938 Morris 8 series e...... I know I could regret using them but they're actually emu shape....the weight of the panels actually counter acts the weight of the metal head so it's a possible win win
Sent the 70 year old massey tractor carb off to a specialist too

Carbs due back today or tomorrow no good now as I'm at the farm this morning so it'll be next week before its refitted. Got a ton of jobs for today so last night while the house was empty I carried on with the emu

That Emu is looking good. Have you got any sockets left after this creation is done?

All the sockets were just from a big old box of loose /boot fair assorted random ones I had. All assorted sizes, drives and condition. Most had rust etc on them or had a drive that didn't match any of my sets. No 10mm or 13mm sockets were harmed at all, I still have the granada so that would have been very foolish
Will be moving onto the spanners next.......
The scrap metal used is just metal I accumulated over the years to aid building the rat rod.

Could have done with this arriving Thursday but things were out of my hands so it'll be next week before I get to refit it and try to get the tractor up and running again
Got to play with the 6230 yesterday tho.fitted a stereo but the speakers are beyond dead.... Another job added to the list😩 may fit some 80s parcel shelf ones and add a retro slant to things. I'd play it down and say its OK..... But it's just so damn cool. Complete contrast to the 1952 te massey that I should be driving next Friday if it all fires up and runs after I refit the bits
Who'd have known how cool farms are. Nearly finished the meerkat enclosure too,just needs the wooden window tops fitting and the glass dropping in. The glass was a freebie from someone who'd ripped out his secondary glazing. Can't beat free stuff. The brickwork is all my doing... ..... Its not perfect, but I'm not a bricklayer I'm just helping out there. Its straight tho so that's a positive 🙄
Been asked if I could arrange a small invite only car meet there for a friend who runs a club....
Thinking that'd be pretty damn sweet so gonna get all the building stuff done and ask..

Had a message yesterday from the farms manager, another old tractor has arrived. Its one from the farm that's been returned.will look over it tomorrow and if all is good with the grey one, I'll get the paint to start repainting them both

Poxy day, the massey fought me all day long. Got it running but there's still a fuel leak⛽🤬
Had a go on the new red massey diesel, much heavier and the steering is so much heavier. Managed a couple of laps around the farm though. Need another day of tractors to get things up to speed. So annoyed with the fuel leak......... When it's sorted I'm taking it for a run across the fields. Started doing other bits but nothing worth mentioning

Had training on Monday with the new club I joined. There's a new coach there and even now I feel battered to hell..... So seeing as the house was empty I started with the lighter work and installed some tail feathers
They're stencils that I've had for years and never used. All assorted sizes and not a complete alphabet amongst em.

Hands are still sore so it was just a bit of paint today on the emu and also slapped the replacement bumper on my sons 20 year old mini. Getting way too old to be laying under cars........
