the pintos usually have a decompression plate I believe. I bought a transit pinto for my sons car as we were looking at running a turbo on it. transit engines are low compression to start with. this set up isn't the best in the world and definitely wont be the most powerfull by a long shot ,but it will be unique and that's exactly what this car is about. fitted the new switch panel yesterday after work.............and after leaving my daily in the garage all broken :-( really want the old girl back on the road for this years show at Wrotham......and Enfield.......and Battlesbridge tidied up the gear stick too....looks like the gear knob had a neck. funny how an old piece of hose actually has the same pattern as the seats.

scrutineer sticker sheet arrived ao now the toggle switches have idiot labels on as does the rear kill switch. couldn't help marking the nos activation secondary switch as "launch"............

rewired the headlights and added the fan relay..................lights needed doing years ago to be honest. one year I had to replace the connector plug with crimp clips which isn't ideal at all. two replacement connector plugs from Del in Meopham ...........he's a banger racer and always sorts me out with stuff I need. parts are dirt cheap or free as a rule. kill switch sticker added.................well only cos it was on the sticker sheet to be honest inlet temp sensor added too

been looking for a bass tube for the boot for a while now. I figured it'd look good on the opp side of the the boot. I had an amp but the boxes (I seem to have collected quite a healthy collection) just weren't right. so it was time to rethink things. this now resides in the boot. should look ok when i've hovered things up and put a securing strap over it

thanks mate,but she wont see daylight till 2018 sadly. every penny I had anywhere has been eaten away to get this far and pretty much everything sellable I had has been sold to finance this. looking forward to next year though.....its only 9 months to wait so gives me time to get some coins saved up in readiness

sadly there wont be any new pics till next year. hopefully it will be a case of a wipe over,check the lights and straight off to an mot garage next spring...........then a whole summer of cruising around (after a visit to HT racing at Brands Hatch for a dyno run)

None of your photobucket photos display for me says 'please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting', weird. I read most of your thread but didn't come across your detail of method of boost-references ignition retard, may I ask how you accomplished this? I imagine with a vacuum-advance module on the dissy I'd convert to pressure-retard to achieve this, but the engine I'm helping to build uses a centrifugal advance mechanism so we are stumped, without reverting to megajolt.. Sweet build btw, sorry for the tangential question, keep it up! Beers, HH

Thanks.the suck thru set up I used runs an su carb bolted to the turbo.the fuel pump is around 1-7 psi fpr is set at 3psi.this is the max the su carb can't take.the set up can't run an intercooler and adds around 30bhp to the rear wheels.it could be rebuilt to produce more boost but temps could be an issue.I'm still using the duraspark ignition module that was in the original 2.3 cologne engine.i assume it's the same as the 2.8 as it works fine.ive got no pnkung at all and fuelling is fine.the turbo does have a carbon seal inside though due to the incoming petrol.i was told the su carb will have a funny shaped needle to suit the turbo needs but I can't see anything different with it.i had no idea what I was doing and not did the rolling road I took it too.my original turbo fault was diagnosed by someone on here and also by mk2 cossie also on here.it was a case if just trying stuff.janspeed weren't any help either.....they didn't even call back.turbo Technics did a great job refurbing the turbo so I will recommend them.ht racing who dynod it properly are also recommend.the nitrous install adds fuel as well as nos at the nozzle which will cool things down a bit so hopefully there won't be any pre detonation there either

Thanks for posting pics mate. She's done all bar a battery and the only thing left was a to hose swap as a precaution.gave in looking for an eBay one so bought a chrome alloy flexi one with universal ends.will be shiny,just hope it fits properly.

The spring mate,started topping up the coolant earlier in readiness. extinguisher is now boot mounted,rear panel pull cord in too.started running the long hose to the bulkhead but being Valentine's day and having a meal booked,car time came to an abrupt end.will do more this weekend.need to find 50 quid for a battery too........may chance one from a breakers
