Had a look at the exhaust, tightened up one of the brackets, little quieter but the middle box is rattling a lot so either a straight through pipe or a replacment is on the cards. Handbrake does not work at all now  Next job, Distributor. IMAG0231 by hoopsontoast, on Flickr The vaccum advance unit seems to work OK, but the bracket it advances barely moves without a lot of pursuasion, and the springs/top arm are quite loose. I think a recon one is on the cards or a 123Dizzy.

I shall be interested to see how you get on with the 123 dizzy and wether or nor they're worth the money

So will I Thought it did not sound too bad, its just over £300 But it would be £45 for a recon dizzy from the TDC, but they have no stock or £170 from Rimmers! Then add £100+ for a decent Electronic Ignition kit. And this is a plug and play solution and the standard 123ignition Distributor is £245 on its own, which would require modification to fit onto an 1850/Delco.

If you are interested I have some solid steel carb mounts for an 1850/HS4 setup. They made a big difference on my old 1850 but won't fit my new one because it's got HS6s. PM me if you are interested James

Got it in, and eventually (after the rain break) and got it up and running. Not running perfectly, timing needs a bit of adjustment I think (tomorrows job) Currently using advance curve 8. Certainly a lot more responsive on the trottle

Let me know if you want to borrow the timing light to make life easier(I will be back around tomorrow afternoon). I am glad to hear that you have gain some sprightliness.
Hopefully I'll be at the Gathering in a retro but it is looking unlikely at the moment....

Have a ride in this today! It certainly shifts quicker or seems more responsive and swift than your TR7 of old was! Hopefully that jerking on light throttle at low speed will be something simple

Hopefully that jerking on light throttle at low speed will be something simple Too much advance by the sounds of it - perhaps a slightly more aggressive curve with a little less static advance?

It was bunny hopping when you just had a little throttle applied, I think it could just be the cable. It does not do it when there is no throttle or lots. Certainly sounds and goes better than the TR7! Hope you got back OK last night Chas.
