Time for an update i suppose! Been busy since my last one anyway. The manifold arrived last friday so when i got home from work i fit it and changed the oil and filters while i was at it. Got it all sorted out and finished early saturday morning, just in time for the classic car meetup at the biker cafe in keswick (much reccomended!) Driving through town on the 5 min journey to the cafe i noticed a little smoke coming from the bonnet and a funny smell but though nothing of it as i did spill a little oil when topping her up Got to the cafe, parked just up the road as it was busy, opened the bonnet and was greeted with this sight!! Bloomin thing had burnt all the paint off! Not great for a brand new SPORTEX manifold.... Anyway, the car ran fine and there were some pretty tasty motors there so i got a couple pics: Went for a drive round Thirlmere and Derwentwater after a coffee with the cars. Driving through town even my primered capri made some people smlie After that i headed out west to Cruise west cumbria to see some mates and catch up with whats going on over there, Organisers even snapped a pic of my car for the event report HERENot much happened after that, until i went and bought some steel tubing and made a new exhaust! Old on the right new on the left: Must have made quite a difference to the flow because the Jetting all off, but i'm on the hunt for a set of webbers/dellortos/bikecarbs so that can wait for now Now its back to saving up for paintwork so i can spend it on tuning parts List so far: - New Tyres- Weld up small holes from the trim - New wing mirrors - Fix headlights, only 2 work.- New Paint and a spruce up - Finish bedding the engine- 4 branch- bike carbs - decent brake setup

That Anglia has a 4age engine fitted, looks a great conversion that saab had a lucky escape in Grange, when the thinnest woman in the world reversed into it, fortunately I managed to alert her, so as it just touched without damaging it!

Gotta say bravo so far, having a list and actually crossing them off is a totally different matter! Nearly bought a Capri a few years back but had over heating problems so left it alone (needed something reliable) Always see a few driving around and having seen the majority of The Professional episodes does get me wanting one! What kinda MPG do you get btw? (not rallying around in mud of course!)

Its quite good on fuel really, 30-40mpg average, but mostly high 30's. Mine needs lead additive in it so ive been using the Castrol one with the octane booster I don't think it makes much difference, but was worth a go for 50p more than just additive! The Carb on it is a twin choke that open in series, so if i do all my driving on the first choke its alot more economical. High revs and foot to the floor maens you can almost see the guage go down...... worth it though ;D James.

Thats what i was expecting aswell! When i collected her i filled the tank to the brim, drove the 300 miles back and tracked myself on the gps, filled it to the brim again and worked out the MPG from there, only got 44MPG!! Sat at 60 all the way back, came over hartside pass and through alot of country roads aswell, so wasnt just motorways and flat roads. Now the engine is bedded in though, i can rev it a bit harder, so the economy is down, but there if i need it James.

Spent a wet afternoon fitting an electric fan yesterday. Also changed the coolant, which was minging! It had the consistency of coffee, if you filled the mug to the top with the granuals! Its nice and fresh now anyway..... and bright green Fan is great though, ebay special with a thermostatic switch, all for about £25. Not all good news though, Went to put some stuff in the car and found all the carpets were soaked behind the drivers seat :/ From experience i know wet carpets and old cars DO NOT go well together, so i dried them out and set about finding the leak. Turns out the door seal isnt quite seating right so it leaks. Found this out by getting my mum to spray different places on the car with the hose In car pool: James.

Cheers for the pics Steve! I got to see the original color today though, When i was reversed into driving through a car park... Usual story, big bang, slam on the rakes, get out to suspect a big old dent.. but there wasn't. I love old cars. Brand spanker of a Nissan Juke had a ruined bumper, dent on the back and the Capri had scuffed pain and a 4" sideways skid mark where she slid me along! So she gets on the phone, calls her dad, he turns up, massive bloke, looks at the cars, hears both storys, i point out its all on CCTV and he says its all ok so we shall both be on our ways now Lucky escape from messy insurance! Crash damage:

Nice car! But do loose that cone filter. Put a decent paper element back in the box and then run a nice big piece of ducting from the box to the front of the car. It'll still pick up some heat soak from the manifold (heat wrap may help) but not as bad as just sucking hot air straight in.
Capri and Manta look brilliant together.
As for big bloke, he probably said that because if that was the case, she wouldn't have much of a hope of a claim.

I splashed out this morning, so tomorrow I'm borrowing my dads car to pickup some 2.8i springs from Bradford. Brand new ones aswell. Looking at the spring today after work it looks like it was cracked for a while, something that is easily missed when checking. I found a crack on some Hellman springs when I was decambering them. The tension in it kept it closed and almost invisible until it was forced open under compression. Anyway, these came today in the post James.
