I suspect the meet will now move back to the retail park and be a mess again. Someone will get hurt, someone's car will get damaged and the belief that modified cars are only owned by feckless morons will be reinforced.
Worst of all, it's likely that Meadow Farm will now never want to welcome car clubs of any sort to their pub so it's not just been spoiled for the good people that attended from RR and other clubs, but for anyone in the future that might want to go along. This is a pattern that's repeated too.
Get a meet of 30 cars and you can guarantee you'll have 3 dicking around, disrespecting the space they're using and generally acting like pubescent morons. Instead of focusing on the quiet, well-behaved 27 cars, the people that offer the space or live nearby focus on the 3 trouble makers. The 27 remain quiet and do nothing about the 3, the 3 then scarper leaving the 27 in the lurch and the whole cycle starts all over again.
It's curse word. It shouldn't be like that. I hope it isn't allowed to happen again but shan't hold my breath with a Sheffield meet.

Would you be up for a smaller scale thing on OC Phil? I've updated the thread there about maybe just having our own small scale regular meet? It's not a meet if only one person actually has a working car to go in

what a huge shame. After all these years I was really happy to see this meet still going. What started off as literally 3 cars in the middle of winter several years ago grew and grew and eventually moved on to much better venues.
To have some inconsiderate morons carry on going to the meets and spoil it for the good folk in their cars is disappointing. I never imagined my little idea to get a few like minded folk together would carry on going for so many years. I also hoped it wouldn't end this way.

There used to be far more stupidity at the retail park, anyone remember the guy in the nearly new Hilux double cab trying to do donuts in AWD? There was loads of racing about as well, while families were walking around shopping while the park was still open.

I remember the first meets with kee I've watched this progress from the start and the best meets was at retail park Yes there was a few idiots but there always will be at least they was doing it away from people This meet was moved because you choose to move it and in my opinion killed the meet It should go back to meadowhall where 40-50 cars turned up where as at meadow farm about 20 was tops and you still had the so called idiots

If you build it ... they will come ...
Shame about the cock heads spoiling the fun after all these years
but as everywere , its a public place , and cock heads can attend if they want
Just a few people looking and they show off even more .
Maybe find a quiet corner at the meadowhall meet for the OLD stuff

I just wanna go to a meet with like minded people and talk about cool cars, I've no desire to skid about or spin my wheels...at least not on the road!
I really liked the Retail park meets, loads of cars loads of people...and I don't know if I left early, but I never saw that much stupidity either. I only attended one Meadow Farm meet, and although it was quiet it was good. The good thing about the retail park is that if numpties want to try and show off, the cops will come and sort them out. In a private venue like meadow farm it's easier to just chuck everyone out.
I really hope another meet gets going, I only live in Chesterfield so this was ideal for me and some mates....don't think my XJ6 would fit in at MFN or the other "cruises"

The problem with the retail park is the numpties were showing their complete lack of car control whilst buzzing through the lines of people looking at cars. The police aren't going to be much help if they get there after some wazzock has hit someone.

This seems to be half of the problem, there seems to be a vast majority who want a nice safe, family friendly meet in a nice peaceful atmosphere, then there is a minority who think a car meet should be about wheel spinning and drifting and generally doing what you like because no one can stop you doing it (see comments on the Facebook page)
I may not own a retro car myself, but i still really enjoy the meets and seeing cars i used to lust over in my youth, and take the opportunity to take photos of some rare pieces of history, as well as chatting to the owners etc

It seems to be a general problem these days, not just confined to the S. Yorks meet. After all, wasn't the Beach Party shut down for pretty much the same reason? And closer to home, there was no charity car show at the Traveller's Rest in Hope this year due to the frankly dangerous hooning around on the road outside seen in previous years.
I'd be interested to know what other RR meet groups do the control this sort of behaviour and keep their meet going? I understand the Traveller's Rest organisers are having to employ professional marshals and have a heavy police presence including a camera van outside for next year's show, but that's way, way outside the kind of thing you'd want for a casual local gathering.

Yes it was a great pity the Travellers Rest show was cancelled this year, that is one of my yearly highlight that show, but it has got way out of control the past couple of years Would certainly be interested in what other meets do to combat these sort of small minded individuals The problem with the retail park is the numpties were showing their complete lack of car control whilst buzzing through the lines of people looking at cars. The police aren't going to be much help if they get there after some wazzock has hit someone. shame whenever i went it was a very civilized meet, the ones at the retail park weren't exactly rowdy either, are ones still going on at the retail park? Cheers guys for backing us up on the FB page, i was starting to feel like a lone voice in the wilderness

Hi guys,
New member here, just bought a Mk2 Fiesta along with a friend of mine, also from Sheffield.
Just wondering if there are any meets going on at all in Sheffield these days, just read through this thread and I understand why so many meets have failed over the years.
Would be great to meet up with a few members and get some inspiration for the Fez.
Cheers,
Alex

Cheers, Alex Hi Alex There is a monthly meet at The Waverley pub in Catcliffe, organised by Motornutz (www.motornutz.co.uk). There was a good mix of cars there last night and there's always plenty of Fords.
