This one?Could work, it's properly out of the way while also looking easy to get to. Having a look at Google Maps (because I don't know this place well) it looks like it might have some good lighting and is on a bus route. Nowhere obvious for food and drink to be got though which I know is a bonus for some folks, especially if you've come straight from work. yeah the lack of food and drink's the main draw back, could do with something like a late opening cafe with a good size car park

phillipm: I have and they usually do, but it looks like they've not bothered at the last couple of meets. I'll be contacting them again to make them aware of the situation once we've secured a new venue.

poloandyb: I know the one you mean, that could work too especially with the Asda on hand. We should do it 90s Rave style, pick a secret location and broadcast on a LW/MW band so only people with retro/classics can pick up the broadcast and attend. Which would be great if I knew the first thing about how to do it and it was actually the 90s and people could be relied upon to turn up.

Hi guys does anybody no who was taking pics at the meet and of they have been posted anywhere. Cheers Have some of mine. I arrived about 8.45 with a mate from work. It was hard work dodging the idiots - I felt genuinely sorry for the family with the very tidy XR2i. Astra looked potent sat low on Cavalier V6 wheels. What was in it? I'm fairly sure I raced this Simca Rallye at Santa Pod. Very, [very] clean Escort RS Turbo with a useful anti-theft mod. The owner took the steering wheel off while it warmed up. Minty Saph to finish on. Wherever the next meet ends up, we're coming next time in a FORD PROBE 24V. Deal with that.

^ Likewise, nobody has updated me about any situation involving particular cars beyond 'idiots in shopping trolley cars'
So far, I think the three best location suggestions are (probably in this order, too): > J35 Industrial estate > Waitrose, Ecclesall Road > Meadowhall quiet car park
I'm up for more ideas, so do feel free to chuck ideas in the pot. I want to make sure the new venue is something you guys and girls want rather than it just being a move away from the Retail Park so your input is important. After all, I don't do the organising - well, advertising, mostly and being a contact point for complaints - for me, I do it for everyone that attends and for our shared love of stuff with wheels on.

There is a pub just down from the smithy wood industrial estate called meadow farm. This does food and has a nice size car park but not big enough to fool around in.
Would make a nice place for a car meet. All you have to do is have a word with the manager.. That shouldnt be to hard as he is a friend of myn.

Waitrose sounds good, but I'm biased as it would mean I could walk there on my lunch break when I'm on lates lol. Main issue with it is though is it patroled by a parking warden in shop hours.
There is Marks and Spencers on Eccy road, but I don't know what time it shuts.

I thought the Waitrose had sacked off their patrol guy, I must be a bit behind on that one, hardly surprising since I haven't live in Sheffield for a couple of years now.
Meadow Farm might be a bit of a squeeze in the summer, a Google Map shows they have about 60 marked spaces (some disabled) and what looks like an overflow car park that'd like house another 50? However, having good relations with the place we meet at would be welcome and would certainly give a more organised feel to proceedings. Still quite easy to get to as well since it's only a bit further down the road from the industrial estate. Good suggestion actually, the only real cons look like a lack of lighting for winter meets and space for the busy summer meets, but it ticks all the other boxes, particularly food and drink, ease of access and getting a bit of passing trade from the pub/farm itself and there's the wonderful lack of titting about space that should keep undesirables away even if they did find us.

There's also Homebase, Chesterfield Road which I can't recall ever being busy or popular and isn't too difficult to get to. Might experience the same issues as the Retail Park once it's known about widely, though.

Nothing happened to the XR2i, it just belonged to a family with a little girl and they couldn't let her out of their sight because of all the chodes razzing up and down in their crapboxes. They were all huddled around and didn't really look round the car park.
Sorry, I should have made that clearer. They just didn't look like they were having a good time.
Glad Gyl is looking at new locations.

I think meadow farm would be the best idea, there's food drink and toilets, and we would have the landlords permission to be there so no worries on getting kicked off at, why not give it a try and if its too small then have a rethink??

Can't see Meadowhall itself standing for a meet on their car park and think you might get moved on pretty quickly, they patrol very regularly too.

^I'd heard this of the underground car park, I thought the one on the corner wouldn't be patrolled as it's pretty much always empty, or nearly empty. I think better venues have been suggested.
Speaking of suggestions, I thought I'd put this one up from someone else, but I hadn't.

So that's another for the list. I want to have made a venue decision by the 22nd of April so people have plenty of time to reorganise for the new venue.
