Thought I would start a thread on my escort that I brought a few months back. It was all standard when I brought it with 65k on the clock. I have already got it looking how I wanted it with wheels and lowering a few ford extras like the sunroof spoiler rs steering wheel and front recaros. I had most parts lying around to make it look like this I only had to buy the seats. So now it looks like this. Pretty tidy car and never been welded After a month or so after getting to this stage I am bored and thinking of selling but instead I am going to have a go at a putting a zetec in it. I have purchased the donor car a 1994 130ps escort cab The only part of this concerning me is that this car has the pats immobilizer on it and wiring the whole thing up in my car will be interesting.

You say that but can I use my loom and remove the pats or get another ecu off a car without pats? I have removed the whole loom from the cab and I have the key so I thought I would have to use the pats and tape the key to the receiver?

Next step after taking everything I needed off the cab was to weigh it in and start on stripping mine down. I paid £400 for the cab with tax and test and it ran mint. I got £88 over the bridge for what was left and sold the alloys for £100 and still have a few other parts to sell, so the parts I need will be quite cheap by the time the spare bits have sold. I don't want it to owe me a fortune as it ain't going to be worth mega money when done, I just want a quickish car that I can leave wherever and I ain't to bothered about. Here is the bay at the moment. Shame to take it out really as it runs perfect. I am working outside so progress is going to be weather dependant but although the car is normally in the garage it would be tight to try and work on it in there and I don't want to risk damaging the other car and my bike in there. My other car is The bike is So as I stand now the 5 door is in the back garden on stands with the bonnet off ready for the engine to come out which will hopefully be tomorrow.

You need either one of these ecu's DEEP DESK DEWY
Then do some ecu pin swaps
Starter relay pin no.32 remove & send to earth. Fuel pump pin no.53 remove and refit to pin no.22 Octane adjustment pin no.29 remove and refit to pin no.42 A/C pin no.35 remove and refit to pin no.54
Then the injectors:
no 1 pin no. 15 remove and refit to pin no. 51
no 2 pin no.12 remove and refit to pin no.52
no 3 pin no.54 remove and refit to pin no.39
no 4 pin no.42 remove and refit to pin no.35

hi mate thats a mk5b doner , it has no pats so you can use its engine loom and ecu , ive use the ame setup many a time , heres a wiring guide for you , its for the same loom as in your convertable so will make it all curse word easy , if you get stuck pm me and ill help via msg or phone ... www.xrtwo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31556basiclly, on the wiring looms, theres a bunch of wires that comes from the main engine loom and connects to the car loom, these are all the wires you need to connect into the fiesta loom! theres a plug there so if posible, chop off 3" or so of the donor cars wiring loom and solder the plug into your fiesta loom, this will enable you to remove the engine loom complete from the car for whatever reason. the wires on that plug and what they need connecting to are: black/green = ignition live brown/green = water temp gauge black = 4amp ignition live brown = earth from fuel pump *RELAY* red = 4amp perminant live brown/wite = earth green = revcounter (the revcounter should work as normal with no messing about) if youre making youre own fuel pump relay cricuit (easiest way) then insulate and disregard the black/red wire. if you want to make youre own fuel pump relay circuit, its easy! get yourself a relay from halfords or wherever. itll have numbers on the pins which you need to connect up as follows: 87 - perminant live (from battery 30amp fuse if using erst pump) 86 - switchable live (ignition live.....from ignition) 85 - earth (to the brown earth wire mentioned above) 30 - accesory (to fuel pump) make sure that the fuelpump hosuing isnt in anyway earthed to the car as this will blow the fuse and the pump wont work! ( ) you should always use an inertia switch when running an electric pump, you should put this somewhere in the feed to the fuel pump and screw/bolt the inertia switch uprght to the shell, then you will need an earth from the fuel pump to the chassis. aswell as these wires theres one or two earths in the main engine loom that should be connected up to the shell. do all that and you should have a working zetec loom!

that means having zetec loom in the car , with the loom he has he can keep it all under the bonnet and keep it minimal , only wires added through car are fuel pump ,.

Right thanks for the positive coments and advice which has made me go in the shed and take some more pics. I have the engine loom I have the car loom The plug which joins the two has the following wires; black brown/green brown green brown/white brown/white black/green brown red black/red black/yellow green So the same as you suggest mrrodney but with a couple of extra wires and duplicate ones. You also mention that my car does not have pats but I have this Is it possible to unpick this from the car loom and label it then put it in my car connecting to the same on my car/mk4 loom? orioncrazycarl is that how you have done it? Finally these are the codes on my ecu I don't think they match what hamps has quoted above. Cheers guys

bike looks killer who did the paint or did you buy it that way/? I did buy it like that. The previous owner had the bike years and it sort of evolved over that time until he brought another bike due to not wanting to knock this one about and him not being comfortable on it as he got older. A place called arnolds in Stourbridge did the paint as a mates rates kind of thing to the previous owner who knew the painter but one of my mates says said painter has now left there.

suprised that has patts as it looks like a mk5b , that will be external pats so you should be able to test fire the engine on the floor with just the engine loom/fuel supply and the box attached, you can loose the pats ,
and you can use your excisting ecu,
the extra wires from the loom plug you shoudnt need , as its 3 lives to run it and a few earths,.

If I can loose the pats that would simplfy things. There is a plug with 3 wires from the ecu to the pats box the rest of the pats is in the car loom. Would I have to do anything with these 3 wires? You are right it is a mk5b

I only remember having just the halo bit, not the box bit, but i might be wrong!like said, wires are simple to wire in, spares don't use, should be a couple lives, switched live, rev counter, oil pressure switch, aircon, neg feed for pump, couple earths, and a temp sender wire

firstly i like what you have there, and your plans for the future....i have considered swapping for a zetec but it was the wiring side of things that scared me too, it seems you arent short of help on here though fella. good luck....i look forward to seeing the finished product.

the best loom to use is a fiesta 3.5 1.6 si zetec loom, no pats, its a neat and you can use the deep, desk or dewy 2.0 ECUs fine, mk1 mondeo is the next best, wiring is very simple,
