Sounds nice! Glad to hear it seems to be working.
I look forward to getting my Capri out again, but I need to finish fitting the new turbo...and there's another project taking priority now.

It's about time this car allowed you to enjoy it properly, you've more than earned it!

Have taken the car to work one day and that went absolutely fine. Highway speeds feel confident! The whole car does.
Yesterday evening took it for a little run again as the weather was so nice. After the first run, I went and picked up the wife for a second run.
I drove for about 45 minutes and not being super gentle with the car either. While picking up the wife I saw the temp gauge creep up, to mid normal, so that is fine as well. Drops down to just above cold when speeds are up. Put the car through its paces and was not disappointed. After 45 mins of spirited driving all wheels felt equally warmed up, no hotness or anything. A little judder in the wheel still present upon braking so I do think the disks have a little warp. But for now I'm driving it to see if it settles with use.
CAr feels good.
Have a vid of a little pull in eco mode. Sports mode is even faster. I have another vid, but I made a remark on that that could get me in trouble, lol...

Sounds great good to see you on the road with it Alex.
Next time can you ask your good lady wife to hold the phone horizontal instead of vertical please for the video?

Sounds great good to see you on the road with it Alex. Next time can you ask your good lady wife to hold the phone horizontal instead of vertical please for the video? I didn't realise it in the car. But I did tell her to next time hold it properly, lol. But this was mainly to convey the soundtrack... It really is too loud at lower speeds and these hard pulls, well I don't think the people around us shared our joy... I hope to do a proper all around video soon. Just should tidy the engine bay a bit first. But it's lacking accessibility so no fun job. At least confidence is finally on the up!

Wow, I felt like a little boy again, exited about the sound and the acceleration. I really need to get my own car back on the road! I really enjoyed the soundtrack this car presents. You have the low down burble, and the high revving sound at the top. I actually had a similar exhaust sound in my old Granada, the green one, but that was down to leaking rusty pipes and was not intentionally. Still great fun, having a car that sounded like big V8 at tickover and a highly tunded NA engine on high revs.
GLad to read that the car is behaving as it should and that you have increasing confidence. A lot can and will go wrong after a rebuild of an old car, this you have experienced, but the reward is worth i, I think :-)

So glad to see you getting some use of the car. You must be so pleased as you have pit so much work into it.
Such a great blend of retro and modern 😎

Awesome mate, it's so good to read that you are really enjoying your car now. And thanks for the video. I always enjoy video's from Holland. Mum sends them so now and then as well. I hoped to see mum (She lives in Houten) this year but I don't think it will happen. By the time all restrictions will have lifted NL will have days with only 6 hours day light and temps not going much higher than 5C. I rather be here around that time...

I've been using the Granada here and there mostly on sunny evenings. One of the more memorable trips was about an hour long drive with my daughter. Took the car for a drive and included motorway, b-roads, speed bumps etc. Car did it all and without missing a beat. Daughter had fun palying her music way too loudly through the bluetooth car kit (not too great a quality unfortunately) and ducking down for all the people who turn their heads,or give thumbs up, lol... I checked the warmth of all wheels and the fronts were warmer than the backs, but it's even side to side. I do find it hard to determine if it is too warm or normal warm... So I consider it normal warm... Today I took a few photo's from the garage roof as I needed to be there... (aircon outside unit is too audible inside, sound transfer which is annoying)... The car needs a wash as it is dusty but I've been busy....

Is there any diagonal bars on that wooden door? If not, they would help it retain some shape at least

mate I love your write up again. Always great to read that the car is giving you more and more confidence. Regarding your brakes/wheels, the fronts will always be warmer than the rears. But as long as you talk about warm and not hot wheels you will be right.
Regarding the home improvement stuff...it all looks spot on to me. Okay that door is a bit less awesome. I am sure that you will get an answer here.
Cheers mate

Is there any diagonal bars on that wooden door? If not, they would help it retain some shape at least Yes, on one side there are. And they are even in the right direction according to this forums expertise. It's not that it is sagging or going out of square in the basic shape, the problem is that the bottom half on one side seems to bow out, away from the frame it should rest on.
