Hi all. Here is my 1973 Triumph Spitfire. Sports a Mx5 1600 supercharged engine. At the moment It's waiting on having the exhaust manifold fitted and the wiring to the MegaSquirt needs doing. Not sure what I am doing about the brakes. I have owned the car since 2007. It had a tuned 1500 TR lump but it went bang so decided on this. Hope you like. Thanks Martin

Blimey, what's not to like. I've always thought this would be a good conversion, but only seen it done to Heralds. Look forward to seeing the megasquirt goings on as I have just brought a MS Scooby engine for my van.

Splendid stuff! Is that a swing spring back end then? Lesser of 2 evils lol. They can be made to handle VERY well. I surprised many a Triumph owner with my old Sprintfire Brakes will be dictated by your wheel size more than anything. If you're running original 13" then the best you can do is Vitesse/GT6 calipers and a vented disc conversion (details of one such conversion can be found in my build thread) If you go up to 14" you can start looking at 4 pot calipers such as Princess/Superlite etc on GT6 discs or bigger

Nice one.
I've got a S'charged MX5 with MS. If you're t'up North I'd recommend John Sleath for mapping it.

Yep swing spring. It handles well already to be honest.
Scooby engine in a van? I love this place!

Very nice conversion. Neat and tidy. Loved my spitfire (nissan turbo powered) and my herald (mx5 supercharged) power delivery in the small chassic is great fun.

Nice. Is the superchger off a Mini or did it come with an MX5 specific kit?

'struth. Nice package under the bonnet. And GAZ shocks I see. Looks like a well sorted undercarriage - that should surprise fellow road users

Quick video of it moving. Sadly at night and the video is a bit pants. It's away at the moment as the timing is off and it's has no hand brake and needs a MOT.

It's only gone a bloody MOT at last! I pickup on August 2nd. Expect some pictures/video. Bonnet not finished and lots pants but mech wise it's good to go... Until it breaks a diff or something.

Wow, that is what an engine conversion is about in a Spitfire! It is interesting to see you went with the Swing Spring setup .

Sold the SC. Moved over to turbo charging. The SC was fun for a while then I got bored. I am waiting for my alloy seats to come. Finish some wiring off and fit the down pipe and fingers crossed back on the road. It's further forwards now then these old pictures. I will try and dig some out. Cheers
