This thread seems to have derailed into Japanese coupes (and US versions of) that generally get ruined by poor "mods". With that in mind, have a prelude that IMO hasn't been ruined; I really fancy a BB6 at the moment. There's a JDM Type-S that's been on ebay a while.

Bump for a old awesome thread. This thing is pure win. In my opinion the worse thing about Probes is....well, their poorly chosen name LOL. Y'kno, "I drive a probe..." and "where would you drive it mate?" is what i picture as a typical probe owner, pub conversation....hahah..
Amyways, terrible humor aside, i agree that they suffer from bad rep because of a lot poorly done ones, and not being that exciting in stock form probably signed off their demise. I'd totally rock one similar to the one of this thread, but I'm all for weird cars and Fords, so my opinion is somewhat biased. They never sold too well this side of the world too, so it might prove difficult to get ahold of one anyway.

My missus drives a stock MX6 V6 - I always enjoy taking it out for a rip.
It's great fun and handles very well. It has it's issues but we just call that character!

Time to out myself, I own two of them! ;D This is my 94 rio red 16v I've owned it since March 2000 - I was 29 at the time, hair loss meant my mid life crisis arrived early ;D Whilst everyone in the owners club was fitting spoilers and stripes I was the misfit who did the understated stuff. It's got a dressed engine bay, lowered, 24v alloys and a few other tweaks. Then I bought a project car in 2009 off ebay for £102 - it was fairly rough so went down the satin black and steel wheels route with it. It was back on the road for less than £500. They aren't a bad car and the owners club (ukpoc) is great for spares and technical help.

Makes me laugh when people say "torquey V6", obviously never driven a KL! Smooth and free reving, yes, but never torquey. JDM KLZE is even worse, but at least they have a lot more power because of the manifold, they can use the revs and still make power where the standard DE is choked at about 55-6000
My Ford Telstar is the same running gear and chassis

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

A mate had a standard V6 one some years back, the only thing that sticks in my mind about it was how bland it was, the grey leather did nothing to help its dullness either.
The one in the OP does look good but that is literally the only one I've ever seen that that does

Love the one in the OP, other than the wheels perhaps, and I like AndyW's understated ones too.
Much like others, they've never done it for me. I always thought the MX6 did a better job of it.
