A thread idea inspired by this I found on YouTube last week: Jean Alesi, Ferrari 642, 700 bhp 3.5 litre V12 engine, 120mph in the wet - on slicks, no traction control, wheelspin on tap. Certifiable, was our Jean. ;D
When I say car control, I don't mean the well rehearsed co-ordinated short films that proliferate the internet, I mean the spontaneous displays by driver in all walks of motorsport that make you sit up, spit your tea out and do the 'WTF' thang. Lets get some well-known examples on the table, to illustrate my point:
Walter Rohrl and an Audi Quattro; better footwork than Michael Jackson:
Nigel Mansell. Australian GP, 1986. A blowout at 200mph. Not a mere puncture; a tyre exploding and his life truly on the line:
'A young man recently arrived from Brazil, called Ayrton Senna da Silva', announced Murray Walker. The legend of the legend begins; Race Of Champions 1984.
Your examples, gentleman.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Not many people could go toe-to-toe with Senna; Nelson Piquet was one of them. Hungarian GP 1986; overtake on the outside, touch of drifting for good measure:
Mansell on. Berger - Mexico GP, 1990. Another overtaking manoeuvre around the outside:

Some awesome car control here, just thought id throw a couple into the mix
First off, in a similar vein to the Jean Alesi one, heres Patrick Depailler in a Tyrell on a rather damp looking Montreal circuit with a Cosworth DFV looking to pitch him into the nearest wall
Another TT video, this time a rather 'brown trouser' moment in a Subaru..
Gilles Villeneuve vs Rene Arnoux at Dijon (i think) not so much one awesome bit of car control but brilliant control from both drivers to avoid having a huge crash, also Villeneuves locked up dive up the inside is awesome.
And lastly, one of the best saves ive ever seen on two wheels.

Ari Vatanen wrestles a Manta sideways through a gate at 2:00, then completes the rest of the stage with a flat. Hero.
