This is not my car but its the steering wheel I want and you should get That looks like an OMP deep dish wheel - plenty on eVilBay. I just watched that clip and was waiting for the collision right until the end.... Either he's played with that a lot, the Porsche driver was scared, or he just handled it well through most of the bends...

mk2vr6Was waiting for you to say 'or MX is just badass. On the straight the GT2/3 leaves it for dust but like most supercars those who own it don't drive it like they stole it. Normally those GT Porsche are driven very well on tracks. This is stock bar from cold air induction

What an awesome little beast. I wonder if it's a 1.6 or 1.8? Iirc, the 1.8 isn't generally as well thought of as the 1.6? Out old one was a 1600, and it shifted if you pushed it hard enough.

mk2vr6 Its a early 1600 stock with some interior removed but it handles well. I had the chance to drive some nice motors but for the monies this has the smile factor even if you don't push it. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Nope not me or my car.
If it was me, vid would be far shorter and end with a crash.

Iirc, the 1.8 isn't generally as well thought of as the 1.6? dunno where you got that from - it doesnt seem to be the case from what i can see. the 1.8 is def quicker, but the 1.6 seems to like revs more 1.8 has better brakes, cabin brace and some other stuff. ultimately on the forums i use theres seems to be a few who prefer each model, but no one saying either is bad etc. the only one id say to avoid is the later mk1 1.6 - it was introduced around 1995 or 1996 (iirc) well after the 1.8 had been introduced - and the power had been lowered to 90bhp. maybe your thinking mk1 vs mk2 - on that front pretty much everyone says the mk1 is "better" for the sportier driver as its lighter, sharper, quicker etc. that said any mx5 is good fun ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

nice thread. I love mx5's - some people take the pi$$, but those are usually idiots who havent tried one. Once you do try them your usually hooked (i know I was) nice thread. saw the mention of turbo conversions - if thats on the agenda then its probably an idea to join mx5nutz as the lads on there have a good knowledge of some of the finer mechanical stuff for the mx5. (in fact prob an idea to join even if you don't want to turbo, as it has a good for sale board etc) enjoyed the read so far and looking forward to reading your updates ive got 2 mx5's atm - selling one, but the other I intend to keep a while enjoyed the read so far and looking forward to reading your updates Must confess when you said you have two mx5 at the mo I first googled it thinking it was a limited run with KTM that give you a idea I have no knowledge about these cars. Total agree people slate them for being girly but they are great track cars for a reason, cheap to run parts are cheap too. The low down grunt is great. Its great to have something small, drop top RWD and pop up lights, I for one am loving it. The mk1 appeals to me more than any other MX or cars of similar type, the '89 Lotus Elan has more power 140bhp but FWD and much more expensive. With a turbo this Roadster could be 200bhp ;D Will leave the turbo thing as it will bring a load of issues mind you got a TDO4 in my Volvo and will keep a eye out for one but its the things around it like the oil return pipe that will throw me. Joined Mx5 owners club forum, will join Nutz but might be laughed at coz I haven't modded it to death. P.S. Sanjay the local shop keeper has a stash of bounty bars if your still on the hunt ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Nice 5 ,don't worry about turbocharging, the engine was used for the 323 turbo and has a low compression ratio perfect for turbocharging (the 323 turbo stuff wont fit by the way)There are 1600's on nutz that make 220 hp without any real issues and with that sort of power to weight it will really embarrass some exotic machinery.Have a look at some of the bridge to gantry mx5 vids at the 'ring 10psi boost 200hp and goodbye porsche bmw corvettes. etc.If you are worried about the oil return, most people just run a line into the sump.don't worry about going on nutz i have a fairly standard (for now, soon to be a hillclimber running ITB's)1600 eunos and as long as you have read of the FAQ beforehand and break yourself in gently they are a friendly bunch and seem to have a similar mentality to RR.I totally refurbed mine so if you need any advice i don't mind if you ask. Regards Steve

Thanks steve,
Will need guidance once I start doing internal stuff, the gaskets should be fine but anything harder then those in the know might be able to nudge me to doing it myself and a few tips or pics.

Hey FF where did you get your 2500 wet and dry?
All the DIY stores only seem to do rough stuff.

My local Halfrauds must be curse word then as they only had stuff that was rougher than a badgers botty!
I keep looking at DA polishers.... still can't quite justify it though.

If like me you won't use it often then do it by hand its far better bonding with your car. The way I did it could cut into paint so will have to be careful they are some cheap polishers www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002QS1LZ2/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1359015721&sr=8-1&pi=SL75 buy expensive pads.

( I know oil and rubber don't like each other) Been getting my hands dirty, the old water bung (on the left) which is a relic from the 323 Turbo was the most frustrating job to date, so small and practically welded on and covered with oil due to CAS 'O ring leaking, the o ring was like a bangle hard and snapped when bent. Just need to put everything back together. One good thing is that the timing belt is fairly new, happy dayz

No probs, Mark you have your hands full with your projects, may I ask how much you sold your minilites from the 2002, thats is looking sweet as. Your spot on everytime, I like most peep don't have the balls to mess with a classic like that but your motor just looks wonderful and make me want a car I never previously wanted...I know of two 2002 on the old Kent road in South London sitting in a old petrol fore court, one looks past it but the other in gray look complete ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
